Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about this place? The location is actually pretty incredible – I mean, you’re literally steps from Petite France, which honestly feels like you’re staying inside a fairytale book. The address says Rue du Coq, and while that might not mean much if you haven’t wandered Strasbourg’s old town, trust me when I say you can roll out of bed and be at those famous half-timbered houses and canals in about two minutes flat.

The apartment itself has that lived-in charm that makes you feel like you’re staying at a well-traveled friend’s place rather than some sterile hotel room. It’s got character – the kind where you might hear the floorboards creak a bit when you walk around, but somehow that just adds to the whole European city experience. The 8.6 rating makes sense once you’re there; it’s not trying to be luxury (hence the 3-star designation), but everything works well and you’ve got proper space to spread out. I actually appreciated having a kitchen area because, let’s be honest, eating out for every meal in Strasbourg can get pricey, and sometimes you just want to grab some local cheese and bread from the market and have breakfast at your own pace.

What really sold me on the spot was stepping outside in the morning – you’re in this perfectly preserved medieval quarter, but you can also walk to the cathedral in maybe ten minutes if you’re taking your time and stopping to look at things. The trams are super close too, which I didn’t realize would matter until I wanted to venture out to other parts of the city. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area (it’s old town, so the streets weren’t exactly designed for cars), but that’s pretty much expected anywhere in Petite France. The noise level was surprisingly reasonable considering you’re right in the heart of everything – I guess those thick old walls do their job. Honestly, waking up to the sound of people chatting in French as they walk to work or the market felt pretty magical rather than annoying. If you’re looking for that authentic Strasbourg experience where you can pretend you’re living like a local for a few days, this place delivers without trying too hard.

Reviews

  • I hope to go back to Strasbourg and use this apartment as my home base again! – Natalie from United States – 21 May 2025 (10/10)

Overall we loved the place, location and look of the building. We loved that the place had plenty of towels, a washer, coffee and 3 separate bedrooms. Strasbourg was fantastic and this spot is a great home base!

What could be improved: The directions to obtain the keys were screenshots in French. My phone can't copy text from an image to translate so we STRUGGLED to figure out how to get it. Instructions in english or at least not in a screenshot would have helped us since the keys are not within sight of the property but on a totally different street. This is a simple issue that can be easily fixed.

  • Great stay in Petite France – Jessica from United States – 14 January 2025 (10/10)

The location was wonderful – easily walkable to everything we were interested in during Christmas market season. The flat was also an easy walk to the train station. The grocery store and boulangerie we're a few minutes away, and the washing machine was a great help!

What could be improved: The only minor inconvenience was that the cooking knives were a bit dull. Otherwise we had a wonderful stay.

  • Great location, kind and careful host – Francesca from Germany – 29 August 2024 (8/10)

    Location, clean, kind host

What could be improved: Quality of mattress and bath towels

  • A clean and simple apartment with a great host in a super convenient location. – Lael from United States – 8 June 2024 (10/10)

Great location. Clean apartment that met the needs of four traveling cyclists.
Host was easily reached when we had questions, very friendly.

  • Exceptional – Patrick from Australia – 22 September 2024 (10/10)

We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment.

  • Good – Lily from Australia – 8 January 2025 (7/10)

Location was amazing. Staff were very responsive when we had issues. Affordable.

What could be improved: Beds in 2nd and 3rd bedroom are ok for kids but adults found them uncomfortable. Be aware that the hot water tank is small, the four of us had to space out our showers as we ran out of hot water the first night.

  • Pleasant – Kirsten from Australia – 11 May 2025 (6/10)

Location was excellent, so walkable to everywhere!

What could be improved: Beds weren’t very comfortable, and no soap/body wash was provided for the shower which would have been appreciated.

  • We had a pleasant time in a house built in traditional architecture – Selma from Turkey – 3 April 2025 (7/10)

It was very difficult to find the key needed to enter the apartment, especially if you arrived in the evening, finding the box where the key was hidden was a real puzzle.

Kitchen utensils are completely inadequate, pots and pans are in poor condition, unusable.

We couldn't get the dishwasher to work.

On the other hand, the location is perfect, the cleanliness is quite good, if the bed linens were white, we would be more comfortable about the cleanliness.

When we called the landlord, we definitely got a quick response, thank you to him

  • Fairly basic apartment in a fabulous location. – Miriam from United Kingdom – 27 December 2024 (6/10)

The location was really good – right in the middle of La Petite France, super convenient for the Christmas market and within easy walking distance of the station.

What could be improved: The furnishing of the apartment was quite basic and the beds in the single rooms weren't particularly comfortable for adults.

  • Fantastic location & clean accommodation – Anonymous from Australia – 7 July 2025 (9/10)

The apartment was in a fantastic location- an easy walk from the train station, to the Grand’Rue and around Petite France. Self check in was easy, and the apartment was as described. The washing machine was super handy for our family of 6, and the kitchen had everything we needed for breakfast before heading out. There were two coffee machines but we only found sachets for one to use. The apartment was clean and well presented.

What could be improved: Unfortunately we were there during a heat wave and there were only 2 fans for the apartment. The owner tried to buy an extra one but unfortunately shops were sold out. Hopefully they are able to get a third fan in case of future heat waves.
