Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Hotel Jules Verne? The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re staying in a real Strasbourg neighborhood rather than some touristy bubble. It’s tucked away on Rue Jules Verne in the Robertsau area – which sounds fancy but is actually just this quiet residential district about 15 minutes north of the cathedral. I mean, you’re not stumbling out your front door onto the main squares, but that’s sort of the point. You get to walk through actual streets where people live, past the little boulangeries that locals actually use, and honestly? The tram connection is right there anyway.
The hotel itself has that unpretentious French charm that’s getting harder to find. It’s a solid 3-star place that doesn’t try to be something it’s not – the rooms are comfortable without being flashy, and the staff actually seems to know the city instead of just reciting tourist information. What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night. The Robertsau area just settles into this peaceful rhythm after dinner, which is such a relief if you’ve been doing the whole cathedral-and-petite-france tourist marathon during the day. The breakfast room overlooks this little courtyard garden that catches the morning light perfectly, and I found myself lingering there way longer than I planned, just watching the neighborhood wake up. Parking was surprisingly manageable too – there’s street parking that doesn’t require a PhD in French parking regulations to figure out, which honestly saved my sanity.
Here’s the thing that really sets this place apart though: it’s positioned perfectly for exploring Strasbourg like someone who actually lives here. The European institutions are practically around the corner if that’s your thing, but more importantly, you’re a quick bike ride (they have rentals) to the Orangerie park, which locals will tell you is where the real Strasbourg happens on weekends. The tram takes you straight into the historic center in about 20 minutes, but you can also just wander through the Robertsau forest if you need a break from cobblestones and crowds. I discovered this completely by accident on my second morning – followed what I thought was just a street and ended up on these beautiful walking paths along the Rhine. The hotel folks mentioned it casually when I asked about jogging routes, like it was no big deal to have forest trails five minutes away. That 8.9 rating makes total sense once you realize you’re getting genuine local insights along with a comfortable bed and solid wifi. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it nails what actually matters when you’re exploring a city.

What could be improved: The sofa-bed and the tall chairs for the dinning table were not very comfortable. It was an awesome time here – Alona from Germany – 11 April 2024 (10/10)
It’s just a perfect place, clean, clear, has a balcony and liters everything you might need in a travel: washing machine, drying rack, toaster and much more, very thoughtfully chosen high quality soap. They thought about every little detail. The area is quiet and beautiful, has a few nice bakeries nearby 😋
Excellent! – Guerrero from Germany – 20 February 2024 (10/10)
The place was excellent, clean and comfortable, he left tea, coffee and you have everything you need for a great time in Strasbourg! The host met us at the door and allowed us to do our check-in earlier. Totally recommend this apartment!
Comfortable stay at this nice and cozy apartment in Strasbourg – Hannah from United States – 30 December 2023 (10/10)
The apartment was very nice and cozy. Was very clean and we had a comfortable stay. We felt a bit cold and they told us how to increase the heater temperature and it was ok after that. But they also offered to drop off a portable heater but we didn’t need it. The Framboisier bakery nearby was a nice place for a sit In breakfast and the lady who runs the place was extremely kind and welcoming. There is also another pastry place just by the apartment. The bus stop by the apartment was also very convenient.
