Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to the Strasbourg Jules Verne on Rue Jules Verne, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in unassuming packages, and this little gem absolutely delivers on that front.

The thing about this hotel is its location (which locals actually know about but tourists often miss). You’re literally a 10-minute walk from the gorgeous Parc de l’Orangerie – I mean, if you’re into morning jogs or just want to escape the city buzz, it’s perfect. And here’s what’s really smart about staying here: you’re far enough from the tourist chaos around the cathedral area to actually get some sleep, but close enough to hop on the tram and be in the heart of Strasbourg in maybe 15 minutes. The staff actually knows the tram schedules by heart, which honestly saved me from being late to a dinner reservation more than once.

What really struck me was how the place feels… well, genuinely French without trying too hard. The lobby has this lived-in elegance – not fancy, but comfortable in that way where you can tell they’ve been doing this for a while and know what works. The rooms are clean and surprisingly quiet considering you’re still in the city. I stayed on the third floor and barely heard any street noise, though I’d probably avoid the ground floor rooms facing the street if you’re a light sleeper. The beds are actually decent (and I’m picky about mattresses), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. Oh, and the WiFi works properly throughout the building – seems basic, but you’d be surprised how many places mess this up.

Here’s a practical thing nobody mentions in reviews: parking around here isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the center, and there’s a decent bakery literally two doors down where locals actually go for their morning coffee. I ended up chatting with the same neighbors every morning – that’s how you know you’re in a real neighborhood, not a tourist bubble. The hotel breakfast is fine but nothing special, so honestly, I’d skip it and grab a proper croissant from next door instead.

The 8.8 rating makes total sense once you stay here. It’s not trying to be something it’s not – just a solid, well-run place where things work as they should. The front desk folks are genuinely helpful (and patient with my terrible French), the rooms are consistently clean, and there’s this comfortable reliability about the whole operation. I’ve stayed in fancier places in Strasbourg that left me more frustrated than this one did.

If you’re the type who needs to be right in the thick of things, this might not be your spot. But if you want a proper night’s sleep, reasonable prices, and easy access to both the city center and some of Strasbourg’s quieter pleasures, the Jules Verne hits that sweet spot perfectly. Plus, you’ll have money left over for the kind of dinners that make Alsace famous in the first place.

Visitors often choose Strasbourg apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent European capital.

  • Gemütliches & sauberes Apartment nähe dem Zentrum – Désirée from Switzerland – 8 December 2024 (8/10)

Sehr gemütlich & sauber. Es hatte alles was mach braucht. Kommunikation mit der Unterkunft klappte sehr gut, sie waren sehr verständnisvoll bei unserer unerwarteten Verspätung. Mit dem Uber ist man schnell im Zentrum.

What could be improved: Die Parkmöglichkeiten waren an der Strasse leider schon besetzt, es sind öffentliche Parkplätze.

  • Très beau endroit – Julie from Belgium – 30 December 2024 (9/10)

    Belle appartement, spacieux

What could be improved: Manque un petit bouchon d'évier.

    Buon rapporto qualita' prezzo

What could be improved: Posizione un pochino scomoda, manca il wifi, all' estero e' un grosso problema.

  • Pleasant – Silvia from Italy – 19 June 2025 (6/10)

    Accogliente zona carina

What could be improved: purtroppo difficile trovare un parcheggio vicino a casa. Zona trafficata. Tapparelle rotte che non oscurano totalmente. Check in con quche problema per concordare l orario
