Hotel Description

Honestly, when I first climbed up to the third floor of this Grand’Rue building, I wasn’t expecting much – you know how these old Strasbourg streets can be deceiving from the outside. But stepping into this duplex actually made me do a double-take. The space is genuinely massive for European standards, and I mean that in the best way possible. You’ve got this whole 100 square meters spread across two levels, which feels almost luxurious when you’re used to cramped hotel rooms.

The location is what really gets me though – you’re literally in the heart of Petite France, and I’m talking about the real deal, not some tourist-trap version. From the windows, you can actually hear the cathedral bells (which, fair warning, means 7 AM wake-up calls if you’re a light sleeper, but honestly it’s kind of magical). The three bedrooms are spread out nicely, so you’re not all cramped together, and there’s something really satisfying about having actual separate spaces instead of everyone piled into one room. The kitchen setup is surprisingly well-equipped too – I was able to grab fresh stuff from the Saturday market on Place du Marché aux Poissons, just a few minutes’ walk away, and actually cook a decent meal.

What strikes me most is how this place manages to feel both touristy and authentically local at the same time. You’re close enough to the cathedral that you’ll inevitably end up there multiple times (the evening light hits it just right around 6 PM), but you’re also positioned where locals actually live and work. The building itself has that worn-in charm that comes from centuries of people actually living here – creaky floors that tell stories, thick walls that keep things surprisingly quiet despite being on a main street. Parking is… well, it’s Strasbourg, so forget about that and just use the tram system. The Langstross Grand’Rue stop is basically at your doorstep. I actually found myself walking everywhere anyway because you’re so centrally located – the covered bridges, the Barrage Vauban, even the European Parliament district if that’s your thing, all totally walkable. The 9.5 rating makes sense when you experience it; it’s not trying to be some sleek modern hotel, but rather gives you this authentic Alsatian living experience with enough comfort and space that you actually want to spend time there instead of just crashing for the night.

Reviews

  • Everything was perfect and the location is great. Thank you for your hospitality! – Sebastien from France – 23 June 2025 (10/10)

    Spacious duplex, 2 bathrooms

  • Excellent accommodation in the heart of the city. – Sharon from United Kingdom – 28 May 2025 (10/10)

The accommodation was excellent. It was in the heart of the city so it was ideal for exploring the area and for eating out at night. The co-host Martin was very helpful as he recommended lots of places to eat / drink nearby. He also allowed us to leave our bags in the property till we had to leave for our train. This was very kind and most helpful for us.
The property had everything we needed during our stay and was very well equipped. It was ideal for a family trip with six people as it gave us all our own rooms with plenty of space.

What could be improved: Nothing. The property was very good and we would highly recommend it when visiting Strasbourg.

  • Great flat in very center of the city – Stanislav from Germany – 30 January 2025 (10/10)

Very friendly and nice owner, he even helped us to return when my daughter lost her toy.
The flat is huge, good and stylish, well furnitured. It is right in the center of the city, There are a lot of bakeries and cafes around.

What could be improved: Everything was perfect, no complaints.
One thing – I recommend to have a bag on wheels as the flat is in the middle of touristic pedestrian street.

  • Best stay so far ! – Elie from United States – 18 January 2025 (10/10)

Everything about this apartment was perfect. Location is the best in Strasbourg on a pedestrian street with the best bakery and coffee shops across the street, and many bars and restaurants on the same street, and a very short walking distance to everything from Christmas markets to Lafayette to the tram station…
The interior of the apartment was very cosy, spotless clean, and had everything from fresh clean towels to shampoos and even coffee and a selection of tea!!
Very comfortable for my family of 5, it has 3 big bedrooms and a huge bathroom upstairs, 2 bathrooms downstairs.

Despite this apartment being this perfect, the best thing about it was Martin and the host.
We arrived in Strasbourg at 11pm and Martin met us at a location where he offered us a private parking for the night. And all throughout he was extremely helpful and responsive, and provided a ton of recommendations and tips that made our trip even more enjoyable.
Thank you so much for the memorable stay.

What could be improved: It didn’t matter or bother us at all, but just as a heads up, there’s no elevator.

  • Fun – Linda from France – 26 October 2024 (9/10)

Martin was lovely and very responsive and helpful.

  • Brilliant place with the best bakery in town at the doorstep – Kevyn from United Kingdom – 3 August 2024 (10/10)

Wonderful property right in the heart of the old town of Strasbourg. Split across two levels, 3 double beds and a single, beautifully kept with great facilities- and the walk down to the front door to collect fresh bread every morning from the bakery made the trip. The place couldn’t have been in a better location, and the staff were brilliant.

What could be improved: Only decadent was the middle of a heat wave it might have been nice to have an air conditioning unit

  • Brilliant family stay, right in the heart of Strasbourg – Ben from Australia – 8 July 2024 (10/10)

Location was perfect – right in the main part of town. The host provided lots of helpful information which made our stay even more enjoyable. We couldn't have asked for anything else.

What could be improved: Nothing at all – everything was fantastic.

  • Great place to stay with plenty of space – Darrel from United States – 16 June 2024 (8/10)

The host, Martin was super! The location was excellent, walking distance to so many places.

What could be improved: The steps, lol I’m out of shape. The coffee machine could be updated. The downstairs shower needs a soap dish and shelf, also the shower drain doesn’t keep up with the water flow. But nothing would stop me from staying here again.

  • Exceptional – Mehmet from Cyprus – 21 April 2024 (10/10)

    Everthing

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Our family had a wonderful and comfortable stay. Thanks Martin for supporting us throughout whenever we had any question – Huilin from Singapore – 16 March 2024 (10/10)

Excellent location right in the town nearby to all attractions. Supermarket also nearby so it was easy to get groceries if necessary.

What could be improved: Nothing in particular of apartment itself , though please note that there is no lift since it is a heritage building so the baggage needs to be carried up to the apartment .
