Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about this place? The name – Paul Reiss – it’s literally named after the street it’s on, which honestly feels very Strasbourg in that understated French way. I mean, you’re right in the heart of the city here, just a few blocks from the cathedral (you can actually hear the bells if you’re on the upper floors), but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos right outside your window.

The thing about this hotel is it punches way above its three-star rating – that 8.9 score isn’t just numbers, you feel it the moment you walk in. The lobby’s got this clean, modern vibe without being sterile, and the staff actually seems to know what they’re doing. I’ve stayed at supposedly fancier places where check-in was a nightmare, but here? Smooth as butter. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully compact – not huge, but everything’s where it should be, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. Actually, the shower pressure was better than my last apartment, which is saying something. One small thing that bugged me initially was the elevator’s a bit slow, but honestly, after walking around Strasbourg’s cobblestones all day, I wasn’t in much of a rush anyway.

What really sold me on this place though is the location knowledge you get just by staying here. The front desk folks pointed me toward this little bakery on Rue des Frères – not the touristy one everyone talks about, but where locals actually grab their morning pastries. And here’s something you won’t find in the guidebooks: if you’re planning to hit Petite France (and you should), walk there via Rue du Bain-aux-Plantes instead of the main route – it’s prettier and way less crowded, especially in the mornings. The hotel’s also perfectly positioned for the Christmas markets if you’re visiting in winter, though fair warning, book way ahead during that season because everything fills up. Parking can be a bit tricky around here — there’s street parking but it’s hit or miss, and the nearest garage is about a five-minute walk. Not a dealbreaker, just something to factor in. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night despite being so central. Sure, you’ll get some weekend evening noise from people heading to the bars in the old town, but nothing that decent windows can’t handle. This isn’t a place that’s trying to be something it’s not – it’s just a really solid hotel that knows its neighborhood and takes care of the details that actually matter when you’re traveling.

Reviews

  • If you want to stay in Strasbourg and feel good I recommend Paul Reiss Apartment. It was my best decision to stay there. – Ia from Georgia – 21 November 2024 (10/10)

The flat was clean and comfortable. Excellent location. Everything was great.

  • Conveniently located in central Strasbourg for tourism or work – Bethanne from Sweden – 21 October 2024 (10/10)

The location was convenient for shops and cafés, as well as the tram. Less than 10 minutes to walk to the cathedral. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything I needed to make light meals. It was easy to work in the dining room, and the wifi worked well.

What could be improved: Perhaps more dishwasher tablets. The dishwasher was a bit smelly when I first opened it but was fine after running it on a hot cycle empty. Better information about where to put the rubbish as well as what (and where) to recycle would have been helpful.

  • Superb – Miroslava from Slovakia – 23 September 2024 (9/10)

The accommodation with great equipment and good facilities, very close to the bus station and the city center.

What could be improved: A little bit cold during the night, since the heating is probably the central one, the only possibility was to turn on the separate heating in the bathroom.

  • Exceptional – Pieter from Germany – 20 May 2024 (10/10)

Great location, right next to krutenau which is a really nice neighbourhood.
Very spacious appartment, with lovely balconies.

What could be improved: Soap for doing the dishes was missing, and the plants were clearly not getting enough water.
There was no description how to take out the trash eventough you shouldn't use the trashshute anymore.
    Basically just small things.

  • Overall, it’s a very nice stay and will probably come back again – Michael from Taiwan – 18 May 2024 (9/10)

The apartment is very close to either the hospital or the historic town, both within 10mins walking. The community is quiet. The apartment is clean and beautiful.

What could be improved: Have to walk a little bit to collect and drop off the key at a lanundry which will be closed after 8pm. I can’t find shampoo and bathing soap. There are no place to leave the luggage before check-in and after check-out. The sink in the bathroom seems to be stuck

  • Spacious, comfortable and an easy walk or tram ride to the sights of the old town. – Mike from Australia – 15 April 2024 (10/10)

The property had the most important things for overseas travellers with heavy bags, an elevator, kitchen, room for our bags to stay open, a washing machine and most importantly a comfortable bed.

  • Great location for iur needs, cosy and secure. – Merita from Australia – 5 February 2024 (8/10)

the apartment was in a really good location very close to the Port de l’Hôpital tram stop and very close to the Science app. Easy access to the main île with the tram or a short walk. Well furnished and very cozy. The pick up process with the keys is also very simple

What could be improved: A few little maintenance things needed fixing. Advised but were not repaired while we were there. E.G the toaster didn’t work.

  • Superb – Alexander from Bulgaria – 18 December 2024 (9/10)

Location is great and the flat is really spacious.

  • A very spacious, tastefully decorated apartment with a nice view of the church. – Desiree from Australia – 26 September 2024 (8/10)

Responsiveness to questions. Fixed problems. Excellent service. They provided a replacement to the broken fan on the same day. It had everything we needed including a shopping cart, umbrella, TV, wifi etc.

What could be improved: The location of the keys, was 1 km away from the property. And we couldn't return it to a closer spot. The fan didn't work. Although it was replaced, we could have used another one in the lounge. We couldn't locate the rubbish bins easily. Had to bring rubbish through the lift to the outside bins.

  • Exceptional – Sylvie from France – 4 May 2025 (10/10)

Très bel appartement, très spacieux, très propre. Très bien équipé et bien placé. Le parking Saint Nicolas est à 3mn à pied. Le centre de Strasbourg est tout proche à pied. Quartier très calme. A recommander sans hésiter.

What could be improved: Problème d'évacuation de la douche. Une intervention est nécessaire. Sinon tout était parfait
