You know what caught me off guard about L’Ambre? The name literally mentions parking right upfront, which honestly should tell you everything about how practical this place is. I mean, finding a decent spot to leave your car in Strasbourg’s center can be a nightmare, but here’s this unassuming 3-star on Rue du Lazaret that just… gets it. The street itself is pretty quiet – you’re far enough from the tourist chaos around the cathedral but close enough that you can actually walk there without your feet falling off.

The thing about this hotel is it’s refreshingly straightforward. No pretentious lobby trying to be something it’s not, just clean lines and that amber lighting that makes everything feel warmer than it probably should in Alsace weather. The balconies – yeah, not every room has one, but if you snag one, you get these nice little glimpses of Strasbourg’s mix of German and French architecture. Actually, staying here made me realize how much I’d been taking the city’s weird wonderful identity crisis for granted. You’ll hear church bells from Saint-Paul in the morning, which is either charming or annoying depending on how your night went. The rooms smell faintly of that particular European hotel cleaner – you know the one – but in a good way, like they actually care about keeping things tidy.

What really sells me on L’Ambre is how it sits in the neighborhood. Rue du Lazaret isn’t where first-time visitors usually end up, but locals know this area well. There’s a decent boulangerie two blocks down where the croissants are better than anything you’ll find near Petite France, and the Krutenau district is right there with its student energy and late-night spots. The hotel’s 8.2 rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be luxury, but everything works the way it should. Hot water stays hot, wifi doesn’t cut out when you need it most, and the staff actually seems to live in Strasbourg rather than just work there temporarily. I’ve stayed in flashier places that left me more frustrated, honestly. Sometimes you just want a solid base where parking isn’t a daily adventure and you can walk to both the European Parliament and a proper Alsatian restaurant without planning your entire day around transportation.

  Newly furnished. Almost everything ready in the kitchen. Washing machine is a real plus point. Heaters working well.
  
  What could be improved: Check in requires to call a local land line. For tourist who gotten esim online better make sure that your phone is able to call thru the local line. WhatsApp call is not working for Check in. I didn't get the WiFi connection for the first 2 days of my stay, was informed by the host that was due to ISP problems. Kitchen faucet still loose, as mentioned in other reviews some time back.

  Clean, well equipped, good communications, secure parking. 25 minute walk into town.
  
  What could be improved: Damp smell in bathroom and the socket next to the bed is still hanging off the wall in a potentially dangerous situation which has already been mentioned in several other reviews so I cannot understand why it hasn’t been fixed.
  
  The worst thing was that the WiFi stopped working shortly after arriving and did not work for the rest of my two night stay.

  Το διαμέρισμα είναι όπως τις φωτογραφίες και η σύνδεση με το κέντρο της πόλης είναι εξαιρετική. Στα εκατό μέτρα από το διαμέρισμα είναι η στάση του τραμ που σε πάει κατευθείαν στο κέντρο. Η επικοινωνία με τον υπεύθυνο ήταν άψογη και απαντούσε άμεσα σε ότι χρειαζόμασταν . Το συστήνω ανεπιφύλακτα!!

  Die Wohnung war unglaublich hell und schön eingerichtet, der Balkon wunderbar und die Küche viel größer, als wir dachten. Die Tram ist direkt ums Eck, ein Kiosk gleich neben dem Haus und auch die direkte Umgebung überraschend schön zum Schlendern. Die Kommunikation war außerdem sehr angenehm, vielen Dank!

  L'appartement est tout neuf et fonctionnel
  
  What could be improved: Appartement situé dans un quartier un peu excentré et sans aucun charme par rappoort au centre de Strasbourg (à 25 min en tram)
  Il donne sur la rue et sur un croisement donc on entend la circulation dehors
  L'immeuble, qui date des années 70 est un peu délabré (graffitis obscènes dans l'ascenseur) et l'isolation est très mauvaise, On entend tous les bruits de couloir
  113 euros pour une nuit c'est cher, même si l'appartement est bien

  l'appartement est très propre, bien équipé, joliment décoré. L'accès à la ville est très facile : le tram est à 2 pas !

  What could be improved: ce serait sympa pour les personnes qui ne sont pas à l'aise avec les outils informatiques (ce qui n'est pas mon cas) de communiquer les consignes pour l'accès à l'appartement dans un fichier ou message plutôt que par un lien internet
