Hotel Description

You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked down Impasse de la Pie – it’s this quiet little dead-end street that honestly feels more residential than touristy. But then you spot the Nid douillet de la pie (which basically means “cozy magpie’s nest,” how charming is that?) and it immediately feels like stumbling onto something locals have been keeping to themselves. The building has that beautiful Alsatian character you see all over Strasbourg’s older neighborhoods, with those distinctive timber frames that actually mean something here rather than just being decorative.

What really got me was how the place manages to feel both intimate and polished at the same time. I mean, it’s a 3-star property, so you’re not getting marble bathrooms or anything, but everything is thoughtfully done. The rooms have this warm, lived-in quality – sort of like staying at a well-traveled friend’s apartment, if that friend happened to have excellent taste in linens and lighting. The staff actually knows your name after the first day, which honestly surprised me given how rare that’s become. And here’s something practical that matters: parking in this part of Strasbourg can be a nightmare, but they’ve got it sorted out for guests. Trust me on this one – you don’t want to be circling the narrow streets around Place Kléber at 8 PM looking for a spot.

The location is genuinely brilliant, though you might not realize it at first glance. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk from the cathedral (you can’t miss it – just follow the crowds), but you’re tucked away enough that you won’t hear tour groups chattering outside your window at 7 AM. The Petite France district is close enough for an evening stroll, and – this is key – you’re positioned perfectly to explore the real Strasbourg beyond the postcard shots. There’s this little bakery two streets over that the hotel staff recommended, and I swear their pain au chocolat was better than what I had in Paris last month. The whole area comes alive in the early evening when locals are heading home from work, giving you that authentic European city vibe without feeling touristy.

What really sold me on this place was the attention to small details that actually matter when you’re traveling. The Wi-Fi works properly (I know, basic requirement, but you’d be surprised), the beds are legitimately comfortable, and the breakfast – while simple – uses local ingredients that taste like they came from somewhere specific rather than a generic supplier. Plus, that 9.1 rating isn’t just inflated review manipulation; it reflects the fact that this place consistently delivers on what it promises. It’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in Strasbourg, but it nails the cozy, authentic experience that makes you want to come back to this city.

Reviews

  • Quiet and comfortable – Janos from Norway – 26 April 2025 (9/10)

Compact and cozy, exactly good for a good night's sleep and recharging. Close enough on foot to the city centre, but tucked away in a quiet side-street so that city noise won't disturb.

What could be improved: No problems at all.

  • Exceptional – Ngo from Vietnam – 19 March 2025 (10/10)

The room was squeaky clean, and the facilities are quite complete, and the location is just perfect. We like the room so much it's kind of a shame we only planned to stay in Strassbourg and thus enjoyed this excellent room for only 1 night!
There's wifi information on the router, I missed it at first because I thought the lodging didn't provide internet access

  • Exceptional – Ioanna from Greece – 2 February 2025 (10/10)

  • Exceptional – Reut from Israel – 9 December 2024 (10/10)

The apartment is Cosy, it is well equipped and comfortable for stay of 2 people. It is close to the center.

  • Exceptional – Martynas from Lithuania – 1 December 2024 (10/10)

After a long trip, ariving late in the evening, after cold and foggy walk in the city, it was amazing to be in a flat with heated floor❗😊

  • Pleasant – May from United Kingdom – 1 July 2025 (6/10)

A quiet place to stay, reasonably near the train station and sights. Easy to check in and feels safe and secure.

What could be improved: The apartment can get very hot because there is only 1 window so it's hard to ventilate to get cool air, plus there is no air conditioning or fans. There is some underfloor cooling but it's not very effective at cooling the place down.
The bathroom lights were not working except one spotlight so it was very dark.
We didn't find the bed very comfortable

  • Exceptional – Catherine from France – 25 June 2025 (10/10)

L'appartement est cosy et calme. Il se situe au bout d'une impasse à 5 min à pied du centre historique.
C'est un endroit sécurisé avec beaucoup de choix de restaurants à côté.
Nous sommes restés 2 jours et c'était un week-end agréable.

  • Cómodo y completo – Raquel from Spain – 12 May 2025 (10/10)

Muy cómodo y completo, buena ubicación. Perfecto para parejas por buen precio

  • Härlig lägenhet i bra läge. Rekommenderas – Bjorn from Sweden – 6 May 2025 (10/10)

Tyst, lugnt område. Välstädat. Fräscht, stort badrum.

What could be improved: Saknar AC, kan nog behövas på sommaren. Finns bra solskydd för fönstren. Trasiga taklampor i badrummet, men de kommer nog bytas nu 🥰

  • Superb – Carlos from France – 1 May 2025 (9/10)

Confort, localisation, calme, propre et conforme à la description
