You know what struck me first about Nid d’Amour? The name actually makes sense when you see it – this isn’t some cheesy romantic gimmick, but genuinely one of those intimate little places that feels like a secret hideaway right in the heart of Strasbourg. It’s tucked onto Rue Cerf Berr, which honestly I’d never heard of before staying here, but it turns out to be this quiet residential street that’s maybe a seven-minute walk from the cathedral. The thing is, you’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from the tourist crowds that you’ll actually sleep through the night.

The building itself has that classic Alsatian charm – you know, the half-timbered look that Strasbourg does so well – but inside they’ve done something really smart with the renovations. It feels boutique without being pretentious, if that makes sense. The rooms are honestly smaller than what you’d get at a chain hotel, but they’ve used every inch cleverly, and there’s something about the attention to detail that makes up for it. I mean, the bathroom in my room had this gorgeous rainfall shower, and they’d actually thought about where to put your toiletries (novel concept, right?). The beds are proper comfortable too – none of that rock-hard European mattress nonsense you sometimes encounter.

What really won me over was the breakfast situation. They serve it in this sun-filled room that overlooks a little courtyard, and while it’s not a massive buffet spread, everything they do have is actually good. Fresh pastries from a local bakery, proper coffee, local jams – the kind of breakfast where you’re not just grabbing whatever to fuel up but actually enjoying the start of your day. The staff here really knows their stuff too. The woman at reception (I think she was the manager?) gave me the most useful walking route to Petite France that avoided the main tourist bottlenecks, and she was spot-on about which evenings the cathedral area gets completely mobbed.

Parking can be a bit tricky – there’s no hotel lot, but there’s street parking if you’re lucky, and a public garage about three blocks away if you’re not. During Christmas market season (which, let’s be honest, is when most people visit Strasbourg), I’d definitely book that garage spot in advance. The whole area gets absolutely packed, but that also means you’re right in the thick of the magic when those markets are running.

Look, this isn’t the kind of place where you’ll have a concierge or room service, and if you need a gym or pool, you’ll have to look elsewhere. But if you want to feel like you’re staying in someone’s stylish home rather than a generic hotel – and you want to be perfectly positioned to explore Strasbourg on foot – this place nails it. That 8.4 rating feels about right; it’s the kind of spot that does the fundamentals really well without any unnecessary bells and whistles.

  Location great for attention concert at Zenith. 10 minutes walk. Apartment was clean & bed was comfortable . Towels & bed linen provided.

  The apartment was very clean. There is a jaccuzi and the atmosphere is very nice because of LED lights which you can change the color of. There are kitchen utensils and a hairdryer. The owner is kind and fast at answering all questions through chat. Even though the apartment is not near the center, it is easily reachable by a nearby tram.
  
  What could be improved: In the bathroom, there were no soap or toiletries, even though they were menioned in the booking.com page. The jaccuzi couldn't be set to a temperature lower than 40°C, so we had to wait for the water to cool down. The options for bubble also didn't work, so we only used the jaccuzi as a bathtub. The price would be worth it if the bubbles in the jaccuzi would work. Other than that, we had a great experience.

  Endroit très bien pour une évasion en amoureux ou même avec une copine. Literie confortable, appartement très propre.
  
  What could be improved: Si je peux me permettre, un four serait vraiment un gros + mais ce n'est que mon avis. Et peut-être qu'assez d'eau chaude pour un 2ème bain dans la même journée aurait été parfait.

  What could be improved: Petit bémol sur la température de la baignoire balnéo, impossible de la baisser .. l’eau était donc bouillante, obligé d’attendre qu’elle refroidisse un bon moment pour rentrer dedans.

  Nous avons beaucoup aimé le côté romantique, le lit confortable, les draps particulièrement doux et agréables. L'impression générale de luxe avec la déco et l'aménagement bien pensé. Le jacuzzi fait bien évidemment toute la différence, il est vraiment super. La salle de bain est spacieuse et très belle. L'hôte réactif et la facilité pour récupérer et laisser l'appartement. La proximité des commerces (à moins de 10 mn à pieds d'un supermarché, 15mn en voiture du centre de Strasbourg). La.place de parking réservée est aussi un plus.
  
  What could be improved: J'aurai aimé trouver un petit livret explicatif pour le fonctionnement de la tv et du jacuzzi (même si l'hôte a répondu gentiment et rapidement aux questions que je lui ai posé.)
