I almost walked right past Montagna Verde when I first arrived – it’s tucked away on Rue de l’Auberge de jeunesse in a way that makes it feel like a local secret rather than your typical tourist trap. The name means “green mountain” which honestly seems a bit ambitious for Strasbourg’s relatively flat landscape, but once you’re inside, you sort of get it. There’s this unexpectedly lush courtyard that makes the whole place feel like an oasis, especially after you’ve been tramping around the cobblestones of Petite France all day.

The thing about this place is that it punches way above its three-star rating – I mean, that 9.1 score isn’t just inflated reviews from people’s cousins. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully simple, nothing fancy but everything works properly (you’d be surprised how rare that is). The beds are actually comfortable, not those rock-hard European mattresses that leave you feeling like you’ve been sleeping on a park bench. What really got me was the attention to small details – decent water pressure in the shower, proper blackout curtains, and thank god, air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing on the roof. The staff here genuinely seem to know their stuff about Strasbourg too, not just the obvious cathedral-and-boat-tour recommendations but actual useful intel like which boulangeries open earliest and where to grab groceries without getting gouged.

Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned without being right in the thick of tourist chaos. It’s maybe a fifteen-minute walk to the cathedral area, but you’re close enough to the Ill River that you can take those pleasant evening strolls along the water when the day-trippers have cleared out. The tram connections are solid if your feet give out – honestly, Strasbourg’s public transport puts most cities to shame. I stayed here during late spring and the neighborhood had this lovely quiet vibe in the evenings, though I imagine it gets busier during the Christmas market madness (which, let’s be real, is when everyone visits). Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving, but that’s pretty much true anywhere in the historic center. The breakfast situation is simple but solid – proper coffee, local pastries, nothing revolutionary but it’ll fuel you up for a day of wandering. What really sealed the deal for me was just how easy everything felt here, from check-in to getting local recommendations to that final morning when you’re dragging your suitcase down to reception. Sometimes the best thing about a hotel is that it just works without any drama, and Montagna Verde nails that completely.

  My colleague forgot her wallet in the apartment the morning we left and Lucia and Pascal noticed even before my colleague did. When they found the wallet while cleaning the place, Lucia instantly reached us to tell us about it and Pascal was waiting for us to get back to the apartment and pick up the missing wallet. We are really thankful!

  Отличные апартаменты, все было чисто и подготовлено к нашему размещению. Хозяин/хозяйка был(а) очень приветлив(а) и хорошо шел(шла) на контакт. Процедура заселения очень простая и удобная. На кухне имелась капсульная кофемашина, посуда, и все, что нужно для приготовления пищи. Отличный большой балкон с видом на крыши домов и церкви, на котором приятно проводить вечер или завтракать. Фотографии соответствуют реальности.
  
  What could be improved: Не хватало чайника, но может мы просто его не нашли. Также не было мыла, но это тоже не было проблемой, недалеко есть супермаркеты. Немного шумная дорога на которую выходят окна, особо чувствительным советую взять беруши.
