Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of apartments in Strasbourg over the years, and this one on Rue des Sœurs honestly surprised me. The name “Magnifique appart côté Cathédrale” sounds a bit fancy for what’s essentially a solid 3-star spot, but you know what? It actually delivers on that cathedral promise. When you’re standing at the windows – and I mean really looking out, not just glancing – you get these glimpses of the cathedral’s spires that make you stop whatever you’re doing. It’s not a full-on postcard view, but it’s there, peeking between the old Strasbourg rooftops in that way that makes you remember you’re sleeping in the heart of medieval Europe.

The location is what really got me though. Rue des Sœurs is this quiet little street that most tourists walk right past without noticing, but it puts you maybe three minutes from the cathedral square without the noise and crowds camping outside your door. I could hear the cathedral bells in the morning – which sounds romantic until you realize they start pretty early – but otherwise it was surprisingly peaceful for being so central. The apartment itself feels properly lived-in rather than sterile hotel-clean, if that makes sense. There’s character in the old building (you’ll definitely hear your upstairs neighbors walking around), and the renovation strikes that tricky balance between keeping the historic charm and actually having decent Wi-Fi and a functional kitchen.

The 8.1 rating seems about right honestly – it’s not going to wow you with luxury, but everything works and the little details show someone actually cares about the place. I mean, there were proper coffee cups instead of those tiny hotel ones, and the shower had decent water pressure, which… well, anyone who’s stayed in old European buildings knows that’s not guaranteed. Parking is going to be your usual Strasbourg nightmare – forget about street parking anywhere nearby – but there’s a public garage about a five-minute walk away on Place Gutenberg. The host was pretty responsive when I had questions, though check-in was one of those key-box situations rather than meeting in person. Pro tip: if you’re coming during Christmas market season (which, let’s be honest, is when most people visit Strasbourg), book this place way in advance because anything decent and affordable near the cathedral disappears fast. The rest of the year though, it’s a solid choice for people who want to feel like they’re staying in a real Strasbourg neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Strasbourg at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak December season when the city hosts its world-famous Christmas celebrations.

  Location was perfect. Grocery store on the next corner and right behind the Duomo! Great spot for Christmas markets. Owner was very good with communication. I just wish there was a number on the door to know it’s on the first floor. My favorite hotel out of 3 on my trip.
  
  What could be improved: At first I was worried about the entrance but that is just that, the entrance!! Once you get to the door and inside. It’s a beautiful place with amazingly comfy beds and extra pads for couches! Slept very well here.

  The operator excused himself for a wrong description, however this is really bad.
  We stayed there with two couples. One couple had to sleep in the hall which you have to pass to go to toilette or leaving the apartment. Not ok for this price, this feels more like a hostel.
  
  I asked the operator for a refund since this was his fault, but he only offered 50€ which is only 6% of what we paid.
  
  I really travel a lot, never experienced this.
