Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first walked up to L’univers au blanc on Rue des Bornes, I wasn’t sure what to expect – the name had me curious, and the narrow cobblestone street felt tucked away from Strasbourg’s main tourist chaos. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones hiding in plain sight. This little four-star gem sits in what locals call the Krutenau district, and I mean, you’re literally a ten-minute walk from the cathedral without dealing with all the Grande Île crowds.
The whole “universe in white” concept actually makes sense once you step inside – there’s this clean, almost ethereal quality to the design that somehow doesn’t feel sterile. The staff genuinely seems to care (I had this great conversation with the front desk person about the best route to Petite France that avoided construction), and the rooms have these thoughtful touches that you don’t always get at chain places. What really got me was the attention to sound – you’d think being on a city street would mean noise, but the windows actually block out most of the traffic from the nearby Boulevard de Lyon. I slept better than I expected, which honestly is saying something because I’m usually pretty sensitive to city sounds.
Here’s the thing about this location that most visitors don’t realize – you’re positioned perfectly between the old town charm and the more residential Strasbourg that locals actually live in. There’s this fantastic little bakery called Maison Kammerer just two streets over that opens at 6:30 AM (trust me on this one), and if you walk five minutes toward the Ill River, you hit this quieter stretch where people jog and walk their dogs. The tram stop at Laiterie is close enough to be useful but far enough that you don’t hear it rumbling by all night. Parking can be a bit tricky – there’s street parking but it fills up fast, so I’d recommend asking about their arrangement with the nearby garage when you book. The 9.2 rating makes total sense to me because while it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Strasbourg, it absolutely nails the things that matter when you’re actually staying somewhere for more than just Instagram photos.
Early hotels booking in Strasbourg is essential during major events like the Christmas Market, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned festive atmosphere and Gothic architecture.

The facilities were new and all the necessary things were placed in the apartment. The room was nice and spacious. There is a gated parking lot so your car will be safe. The owner lives in the same building and they were nice and friendly people! The price is nice for this kind of hospitality.

Comfortable and very clean apartment in a good location just outside the city centre. It's just a 5 minute walk to the tram stop, or you can walk right into the centre in about 40 minutes. The check-in process went smoothly, and the hosts, who live upstairs, were very friendly. Car parking is on the street, but it's free and it was easy enough to find a spot.
