Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Lumineux – L’oasis? The name actually makes sense once you’re there. I mean, Rue du Lazaret isn’t exactly the postcard part of Strasbourg – it’s this quiet residential street that honestly feels miles away from the tourist crowds around the cathedral, even though you’re maybe a 15-minute tram ride from the center. But that’s kind of the point, isn’t it?
The private parking thing is no joke – and I can’t stress enough how much of a relief that is in Strasbourg. Anyone who’s driven around the Petite France area knows what a nightmare finding a spot can be, especially during Christmas market season. Here, you just pull right up and you’re done. The building itself has this understated elegance that grows on you – it’s not trying to be a grand hotel, but there’s something genuinely peaceful about the whole setup. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star, nothing that’ll blow your mind but everything works properly and the beds are actually comfortable (I’m looking at you, every budget place I stayed at in my twenties). What surprised me was how quiet it gets at night – you’re far enough from the main drags that you don’t get the late-night tram noise or drunk tourists stumbling around.
The location starts to make real sense once you figure out the neighborhood rhythm. There’s a decent bakery about two blocks down that opens ridiculously early, and the Neudorf area has some genuinely good restaurants that locals actually go to – not the tourist traps you’ll find near Place Kléber. The tram connection is honestly pretty seamless; you hop on the B line and you’re in the historic center before you know it, but you get to come back to this little oasis (see what they did there?) when the day crowds get overwhelming. I stayed there during late spring and the whole street has this tree-lined, almost village-like feel that makes you forget you’re in a city of nearly 300,000 people. The 8.1 rating feels about right – it’s not revolutionary, but it delivers on what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re the type who values actually sleeping well and not dealing with parking stress over being able to stumble back to your room from the nearest tourist bar, this place gets it right.
Early hotels booking in Strasbourg is essential during major events like the Christmas Market, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned festive atmosphere and Gothic architecture.

Nice cosy studio for two – Kr4mar from Ukraine – 3 November 2024 (9/10)
The apartment consists of a small, cosy room with a kitchen and a bed and a toilet with a bath together. The kitchen has everything you need for a comfortable stay and cooking at home, the bed is nice and the location is quiet. It's great that there is a parking space option.
We liked this apartment and would come back here again.
What could be improved: The bedspread on the bed was obviously not of the first freshness.
The window did not have a ‘ventilation’ option, but could only be fully open/closed.
It was a bit of a problem to open the building door for the first time by calling on the phone.
It would have been great to have disposable slippers.Superb – Eunice from Belgium – 15 March 2024 (9/10)
So cosy and pretty interior looks exactly like on pictures.
Very nice and cosy. – Pia from Slovenia – 21 July 2025 (8/10)
Easy check in, owner gives you very nice instructions to get around. Privet parking in locked garage.
Lovely for a stay just out of town. – Kim from Australia – 30 June 2024 (8/10)
Very quiet and safe neighbourhood, close to public transport, local restaurants, and grocery shopping. Nice view overlooking the courtyard made you feel like a local. Kitchenette was good for being able to prepare meals. Bed was firm but comfortable. Secure parking was a plus.
What could be improved: Although instructions were clear, it was still complex to manage. Having to call a number was inconvenient especially when the phone did not work. Also be aware that leaving the carpark meant exiting the carport with the key, and going back up to the room to return the key to the room. Minor things like having some toiletries and tissues would be a convenient touch. All minor things though. Just need to be aware. Also very hot in summer. Would be lovely in the winter.Nie cousy room.To be avoided in winter-cold and expensive – Gabriel from Romania – 24 December 2024 (7/10)
The room was cousy and clean
What could be improved: Away from the center and not easy to comute. Ridiculous expensive for a small room, even if it was in the high season. The room had the heat turned off when we arrived and it took a lot to warm up. Even so the heater was not efficient and the floor was very cold (probably the apartment bellow was not heated). We had to sleep socks on and with a jumper. In the end we were requested to put toghether all linnen and take out the garbage, even if we payed an equivalent of a 4 stars hotel.Disappointing – Bernd from Germany – 3 October 2023 (4/10)
What could be improved: Still waiting for my official invoice!
Code For the First door and thrid door are given but the code (key) for the second door is nowhere. So u have to wait for neighbors to let you in.
Only french speaking.Passable – Sandra from Jersey – 29 May 2023 (5/10)
What could be improved: Too hot with no cooling system. Dogs barking early in morning. Very basic kitchen facilities. Not enough coat hangers, no tea towel, plus in sink didn’t work.
Very poor – Anastasia from Greece – 16 December 2024 (2/10)
The apartment was relatively clean.
What could be improved: One of my worst accommodation! Due to our late arrival in Strasbourg we had to check in late. In the process to enter the apartment, we needed a phone call to open the exterior door for us! In the instructions, said that the phone had 24 hour service.
Despite our attempt to call, no one picked up the phone, as a result of which we struggled for 1 hour outside the accommodation and finally got in BY CHANCE as someone who already lived there, opened the door for us.
And without ending our suffering when we managed to get into the apartment the heating was not working and we could not sleep because of the cold.
We tried to open the heater with great failure. And the next day early in the morning, when we tried to get communication to help us the host, his response, without giving us any help, was IN THE AFTERNOON.
Also the heating was NEVER satisfactory.
Overall VERY BAD communication with the host.Très satisfait. – Annie from France – 30 April 2025 (9/10)
Studio lumineux ! Agréable, calme,très bien situé (station tramway proche), garage. Communication très facile avec le propriétaire.
Bien placé, bien décoré – Sophie from France – 17 March 2025 (7/10)
