Hotel Description

You know what? I wasn’t sure what to expect from LİFE İNCİTY when I first booked it – the name’s a bit of a mouthful, honestly – but walking into this place on Rue des Bouchers completely changed my perspective on Strasbourg. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Petite France, which sounds touristy until you realize you can stumble out the front door and be wandering those impossibly picturesque canals and half-timbered houses in about thirty seconds. The location is actually ridiculous in the best way possible.

The thing about this hotel is that it gets the balance right between being polished (it’s definitely earned those four stars) and feeling like you’re staying somewhere with actual character. The rooms have this clean, contemporary vibe but they’ve managed to avoid that sterile chain hotel feeling – you know the one where every surface is beige and you could be anywhere in the world. Here, you’ll catch glimpses of the old Strasbourg architecture through the windows, and honestly, waking up to see those medieval rooftops never got old during my stay. The beds are properly comfortable too, which matters more than people admit when you’re doing a lot of walking around the city.

What really won me over was how the staff actually knew their stuff about the neighborhood. When I asked about dinner recommendations, they didn’t just hand me a generic tourist brochure – they pointed me toward this tiny winstub (that’s what they call the traditional Alsatian restaurants here) tucked away on a side street that I never would have found on my own. The choucroute there was incredible, by the way. Parking can be a bit tricky in this part of town – well, it’s tricky everywhere in Strasbourg’s old center really – but they sorted that out for me without any drama.

The 8.5 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it delivers on the things that actually matter when you’re exploring somewhere like Strasbourg. You’re close enough to the cathedral that you can hear the bells (which is charming, not annoying), the European Parliament is an easy tram ride if that’s your thing, and you can walk to pretty much everything worth seeing in the Grande Île. I actually found myself coming back to the hotel during the day just because the neighborhood is so pleasant to wander through – those little bridges over the Ill River are right there, and somehow they never seem crowded even when the main tourist spots are packed.

Look, Strasbourg isn’t huge, so wherever you stay you’ll probably be fine, but there’s something to be said for being right in the thick of things without feeling like you’re stuck in a tourist bubble. This place gets that balance right, and after a few days of exploring the Christmas markets (if you’re there in winter) or the summer festivals, you’ll appreciate having somewhere comfortable and well-located to collapse into.

The locations was really good. Everything is in a walking distance from the apartment. The apartment was decent and clean

What could be improved: I could not get the response about fixing the door handle which was broken despite the staff was communicating with me quite proactively before the visit

  • Nice and central appartment. Walking distance to everything. – Per-olof from Sweden – 7 July 2025 (9/10)

    Very central and nice appartent

What could be improved: The tram passes just outside the window if you are sensitive to noice. But really, it was not something I noticed.

    Very Cillian room.

The house is in the city center next to a full-time supermarket. With an elevator. Very relaxing and peaceful..
With all kitchen and dining facilities.
In my opinion, it has all the amenities of a 4-star hotel.

  • A stylish and clean apartment in the heart of Strasbourg. – Sarah from Australia – 22 December 2024 (8/10)

The apartment was so comfortable and spacious for a family of four. The centre of Strasbourg was on our doorstep and the tram stop 50m away. The staff were so warm in their communications and offered assistance both at the beginning and end of our stay. The apartment was well stocked and very clean. It was easy to convert the lounge to a bed, although the springs were very noisy to sleep on. Would stay again!

  • Thanks. Everything was perfect – Tatyana from United States – 23 August 2024 (9/10)

Excellent location, clean apartment. Clear check in instructions.

  • Loved the location and would definitely recommend! – Brittany from United States – 5 August 2024 (10/10)

The property was very clean and large enough for our family! They provided plenty of towels actually more than we needed! The location was perfect for walking to sites and restaurants. Even with the train right outside, with the window closed we couldn’t hear anything. There was space to leave the stroller downstairs without having to take it to the room every night. Very friendly staff even sent recommendations for food and things to do! They even called to see if I needed a baby cot because I forgot to request one!

What could be improved: No complaints!
