You know what struck me first about L’Écrin Strasbourgeois? The name sounds way fancier than the street it’s on – Rue de Zurich is honestly just a quiet residential road near the train station, which actually works in your favor. I mean, you’re close enough to walk to Petite France in about fifteen minutes, but far enough from the tourist chaos that you can actually sleep at night. The apartment itself is this gorgeous T3 (that’s French for a proper two-bedroom, for anyone not familiar) that feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place than some sterile hotel room. The owner clearly has good taste – there’s this mix of modern touches and classic Alsatian details that doesn’t feel forced or Instagram-staged.

But honestly, the real selling point is that terrace. It’s actually big enough to have your morning coffee without bumping elbows with the table, and if you’re there in late spring or summer, you’ll probably end up spending way more time out there than you planned. The view isn’t going to win any postcards, but there’s something really pleasant about looking out over the neighborhood rooftops while you’re planning your day. Plus, grocery shopping is ridiculously easy – there’s a Monoprix practically around the corner, and the Saturday market at Place du Marché aux Poissons is maybe a ten-minute walk if you want to do the whole fresh bread and local cheese thing. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle (welcome to Strasbourg), but the tram stops right nearby, so you might want to just ditch the car and use public transport anyway.

What I really appreciated was how the place felt lived-in without being worn down – you can tell someone actually cares about maintaining it properly. The kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook, the wifi actually works reliably, and the shower pressure is decent, which honestly isn’t a given in older European buildings. The 8.5 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after dinner, which is perfect if you’ve been walking around the cathedral and museums all day and just want to crash. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was planning to spend more than just a quick weekend in Strasbourg and wanted somewhere that felt like a temporary home base rather than just a place to sleep.

  We were allowed to check in early when we arrived which was very helpful. The apartment was clean, spacious, and well furnished with basic necessities provided. It is located on a quiet street steps away from the center of town where the beautiful bustling Christmas markets are.
  
  What could be improved: Not much extras provided, especially coffee pods. Dining area is cut off from the kitchen. Also, I would think washing and putting away the dishes and taking out the recycle and garbage would be included in the €84 cleaning fee paid.

  The apartment fully corresponds to the description. It is located in the center of Strasbourg, while in a quiet area. The apartment is on the ground floor which is important if you have a lot of luggage. The house is old with a history. The apartment is spacious, fully equipped and furnished. There is everything you need. All equipment is in working condition. Some reviewers wrote that it was cold inside. We didn't have such problem. Upon check-in, instructions are given for the operation of the equipment, including heating. Everything is in good condition, you just need to set everything up correctly. All communications are carried out by via at a very high level. I guess this is one of the best apartment we have lived before in Strasbourg. I definitely recommend it.
