Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Le Sainte Hélène? It’s tucked away on this narrow little street that honestly, I walked past twice before spotting the entrance. But that’s actually part of its charm – rue Sainte-Hélène feels like proper old Strasbourg, with those timber-framed buildings leaning in close and cobblestones that’ll remind your ankles they exist. The hotel itself sits in what looks like a renovated townhouse, and while it’s definitely a 3-star place (don’t expect marble lobbies or anything), there’s something genuinely cozy about walking through that front door. The staff actually seem to know the neighborhood – I mean, when I asked about breakfast spots, the guy at reception didn’t just rattle off tourist traps but sent me to this little bakery around the corner where locals were queuing up for pain au chocolat.
The location is honestly pretty brilliant if you want to feel like you’re staying in actual Strasbourg rather than tourist-land. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk from the cathedral – and trust me, you’ll hear those bells, which is either charming or annoying depending on how you feel about being woken up at 7am. The rooms are… well, they’re European hotel rooms, so if you’re American, mentally prepare for “cozy” spaces. But the beds are comfortable enough, and there’s something I really appreciated – the windows actually open properly, which you’d be surprised how rare that is these days. Plus, the building’s old enough that the walls are thick, so street noise isn’t really an issue once you close up for the night. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle (it’s Strasbourg’s old town, so narrow streets everywhere), but there’s a public garage about three blocks away, and honestly, you’ll want to ditch the car anyway – everything worth seeing is walkable from here.
What really sells this place for me is that 8.3 rating actually feels earned rather than inflated. It’s not trying to be something it isn’t – no pretentious lobby art or over-the-top “local touches” that feel forced. Instead, you get clean rooms, helpful staff who genuinely seem to like their jobs, and that unbeatable feeling of staying somewhere that locals might actually recommend to their visiting relatives. The breakfast is simple but good (proper French bread, decent coffee), and I loved that you could sit by the front windows and watch the neighborhood wake up. If you’re the type who wants to experience Strasbourg rather than just tick it off a list, Le Sainte Hélène gets you into the rhythm of the city pretty quickly. Just pack light – those old staircases aren’t exactly luggage-friendly, though they’ll help with bags if you ask.
To book a hotel in Strasbourg during the famous Christmas Market season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts holiday enthusiasts and culture lovers from around the world.

Reviews
Great spot to see Strasbourg. – Stephen from New Zealand – 13 July 2025 (9/10)
Very tidy apartment in a great location. Close to the sights and can walk from TGV station.
What could be improved: Some street noise from cobbled road adjacent.Could be better – Josephine from France – 10 June 2025 (7/10)
Close by from the center
What could be improved: Location surrounding is not really nice… it’s like in an old building complex..You will not be disappointed. No problem in recommending this to others. – Martin from United Kingdom – 26 August 2024 (8/10)
Location was superb. Comfortable space for a family. Ideal for a short stay.
What could be improved: Street noise in the early morning was annoying but this comes with the central location.Exceptional – Anastasia from Russia – 5 January 2025 (10/10)
Nice apartment, great location. Very close to center. I enjoyed the city. It’s incredible beautiful.
What could be improved: The only thing that made me feel uncomfortable was the temperature inside. The radiators were working in the bedroom and bathroom, but they were weak. There was a heater, but it was very small. Maybe I’m just sensitive to the cold, but I think it would be a good idea to install an air conditioner to provide an option for heating.Poor – Jorge from United Kingdom – 19 February 2024 (3/10)
Coffee machine with only 2 pods.
What could be improved: The threat of losing the deposit… if the chairs aren't in the same position… if the crockery isn't washed and placed in the same place… if… if… if
It's very noisy at night… listening to a young woman being attacked until a neighbour interfered… delivery vans after 05:00… drunks discussing philosophy just in front of the building, in French… blinds that didn't close… and a very uncomfortable sofa.
OkTrès bien bon emplacement – Frederic from France – 29 December 2024 (7/10)

What could be improved: NullaMerkezi lokasyon, arabayla zor ulaşım – Sina from Turkey – 6 December 2024 (7/10)
Lokasyonu çok iyi, ev temiz ve güzel dizayn edilmişti.
What could be improved: arabayla gidecek tatilciler için o bölgede belli saatler aralığında araçla giriş izni olmaması.
Evin sahibi şirkete defalarca arabayla geleceğimi ve park yeri önermelerini istememe rağmen yasaklı saatleri bildirmediler ve ilk gün çok zorlandıkparfait ! – Frédérique from France – 26 October 2024 (8/10)
