Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first walked up to Le Quai 2, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place right on the water – you know how waterfront hotels can sometimes coast on location alone. But this little gem on Quai des Pêcheurs actually surprised me in the best way possible. The building itself has that understated Alsatian charm without trying too hard, and you’re literally steps from where the fishing boats used to dock (hence the street name, obviously).
What really got me was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about getting things right. Check-in was smooth, no weird upselling tactics, and the woman at reception actually gave me useful advice about parking – because let’s be real, driving in Strasbourg’s old town is a bit of a nightmare. She steered me toward the nearby Austerlitz parking garage instead of the tourist trap spots closer to the cathedral. The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re thoughtfully laid out with decent soundproofing, which matters more than you’d think since you’re right by the water and the occasional late-night reveler stumbling back from Petite France. I mean, the bathroom was small but functional, and the bed was actually comfortable – not always a given in European city hotels at this price point.
The location is what really makes this place shine, though. You’re on the Ill River with a perfect view toward the Ponts Couverts, but you’re also tucked away from the main tourist chaos around Place Kléber. It’s maybe a 7-minute walk to the cathedral if you cut through the backstreets, or you can wander along the water toward Petite France and hit all the postcard spots. What I loved was being close enough to duck back for an afternoon break (especially in summer when the crowds get intense), but far enough from the tour groups that you feel like you’ve found something a bit more authentic. The nearby streets have some solid winstubs – actual local spots, not the tourist versions – and there’s a decent boulangerie just around the corner on Rue du Jeu des Enfants where locals actually queue up in the mornings.
Look, it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury amenities or anything, but sometimes you just want a clean, well-run place where the shower has good pressure and the WiFi actually works. The 9.4 rating makes total sense to me – it’s the kind of hotel that does the basics really well without any pretense. Plus, staying here puts you in a part of Strasbourg that feels more lived-in and less like a museum, which I personally prefer. If you’re the type who needs a spa and room service, this probably isn’t your spot, but if you want to feel like you’re staying in a neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble, Le Quai 2 hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Superb – Brian from Australia – 4 June 2025 (9/10)
The owner Valentin was extremely attentive. The apartment was clean and spacious. All the facilities one needs was provided.
Proximity to transport, restaurants etc was great. In 1 minute you can walk into the old town district, which is a great adventure.
I would highly recommend this apartment for a couple, and there's even a single bed for a child. Heaps of space and decorated with beautiful period furniture.
What could be improved: My only issue was not with the apartment per se. Adjacent to the apartment is a church. It's bells ring every 15 mins all day and night…suggest you shut the windows of a night for a better sleep. I stress this is not the owner's fault, it's out of his control.Owner met us at the property and was very helpful – Paul from Australia – 4 June 2025 (9/10)

Fantastic location and accommodating host.
Ideal apartment for stay in the centre of Strasbourg. – David from United Kingdom – 6 March 2025 (10/10)
This must be a unique example of a short-stay apartment. It is located near the city centre and cathedral. The view of the quay and canal from the upper-storey windows is most attractive. The rooms are spacious. Every possible requirement for self-catering is to hand. But above all the whole interior decor, furnishings, pictures and old photographs of the city and family alike, constitutes a charming ambience which is in total contrast to the usual clinically modern facilities one has come to expect of an apartment in this price range. We would not hesitate to go back to this property if occasion arises. The host (who lives elsewhere in the house) was kind enough to meet us and help us by carrying our luggage up the two external flights of stairs which are the only possible disadvantage to access.
What could be improved: Everything was excellent.Perfect stay—clean, convenient, a short walk to the center, and the host was super helpful and kind! – Eleni from Greece – 27 January 2025 (10/10)
We had an amazing stay here! The apartment had everything we needed! The place was really clean, and the location was perfect—just a short walk to the center. Would definitely stay again the next time! The host was super helpful and kind!
Definitely stay in Le Quai 2 if we visit Strasbourg again. – Joy from United Kingdom – 19 January 2025 (9/10)
It was a fantastic location . We travelled to Strasbourg by train and then took the tram to the property . We were warmly welcomed by the owner who showed us round . It was warm , clean and well equipped. There are lots of super restaurants and bistros close by .
What could be improved: The only thing we would recommend is to be aware that there are 2 flights of stairs up to the property which may be a challenge if you struggle with stairs. If you have limited French or German take some DVDs or CDs to listen to as there were no English channels.Efsane! Kesinlikle tavsiye ederiz! – Ozlem from Turkey – 15 November 2024 (10/10)
We loved the location which was close to almost everywhere in the city. The view out the balcony was incredible. The house had everything we could need. If we ever come back we are definitely staying here again.
