You know what’s funny about Strasbourg? Everyone talks about the cathedral and Petite France, but honestly, some of the best experiences happen when you stumble into neighborhoods like La Krutenau. That’s exactly what happened when I found Le Nid de la Krutenau – this charming duplex tucked away on Rue Adolphe Wurtz that feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical hotel.

The moment you walk in, there’s this immediate sense of “oh, someone actually lives here.” I mean that in the best way possible. The duplex setup means you’ve got real space to spread out – downstairs for hanging out, upstairs for sleeping – and the decor has that effortless French thing going on where everything looks curated but not fussy. The kitchen actually works (I made coffee every morning because the local café scene starts late), and there’s enough counter space that you could do more than just heat up leftovers if you wanted. What really got me though was how quiet it stays at night. La Krutenau has this residential vibe that’s maybe a fifteen-minute walk from all the tourist chaos, but feels worlds away when you’re trying to sleep.

Here’s the thing about this area that most visitors miss – you’re positioned perfectly between the university quarter and the city center, which means you get the best of both worlds. There’s a little boulangerie maybe two blocks away that does these incredible pain au chocolat (the owner remembers your order after like three visits), and if you walk toward the Ill River, you hit these tree-lined paths that locals use for evening runs. The tram stop is close enough that getting to Strasbourg’s main attractions takes maybe ten minutes, but far enough that you don’t hear it rumbling by your window. Parking was actually manageable too – not something you can say about most European city centers. The host left really practical notes about which streets to avoid during market days and where to find the good wine shop, the kind of insider stuff that saves you from wandering around looking lost. By the end of my stay, I felt like I’d gotten a real taste of how Strasbourg works as a city, not just as a postcard destination.

  Eine sehr saubere und comfortable Wohnung. Schöner noch als auf den Bildern. Klimaanlage funktioniert Top. Kueche ist vollständig ausgestattet und es hat garnichts gefehlt.

  What could be improved: Pas facile aller chercher les clés d’appartement !
  Il faudra mettre le box à côté de la porte d’entrée au bâtiment. Si non, il faut aller lui chercher un kilomètre de loin ! Pas bon pour les touristes avec des enfants et du bagage !!!

  La casa es muy amplia, muy bien organizada y está muy limpia. La ubicación es estupenda, muy cerca del centro. Es súper recomendable para ir en familia o con amigos.
  
  What could be improved: La habitación de la buhardilla tiene una escalera sin barandilla, y hay que tener especial cuidado.

• Es war ein schöner Aufenthalt. Die meisten Sehenswürdigkeiten kann man erlaufen, bzw mit dem Bus ode – Ute from Germany – 28 April 2025 (8/10)

  Die Wohnung ist ruhig gelegen und schön hell. Den Schlüssel holt ma in einer Wäscherei ab. Das kann man gut erlaufen in etwa 10 min. Wir hatten uns vorher informiert, wo man den Schlüssel abholt. Wir sind mit dem Zug angereist und dann mit Straßenbahn vonm Hauptbahnhof aus etwa 5 Haltestellen gefahren zur Schlüsselabholung. Das hat gut geklappt.

  L'apartament és gran i disposa de totes les comoditats.
  
  What could be improved: Feia molta calor, l'aire del primer pis funciona força bé,. però el del pis de sota no gaire. Cal recollir i retornar les claus a un lloc distint a l'apartament. L'apartament és un dúplex amb escales, i a més s'han de pujar les escales fins l'últim pis de l'edifici. L'agencia cocoonr.fr que gestiona l'apartament funciona amb una app amb la que no estem gaire contents, no facilita el funcionament, la recollida de clau o altres, has d'estar pendent de l'aplicació i el correu, tot i què envien molts.
