Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Le Faubourg? The name makes it sound like some fancy boutique hotel, but it’s actually this perfectly comfortable apartment-style place tucked into one of Strasbourg’s quieter residential streets. I mean, Rue du Faubourg-de-Pierre isn’t exactly where tourists usually end up, which is honestly part of its charm. You’re about a fifteen-minute walk from the cathedral and all that tourist madness, but the neighborhood feels genuinely local – there’s this excellent bakery called Maison Kamm just two blocks down that locals queue up at every morning, and you’ll actually hear more French than English on the streets around here.

The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious for a European city center, and I really do mean spacious – not that “cozy” euphemism places usually throw around. The living area actually fits a proper sofa and dining table without feeling cramped, and the bedroom has enough room to fully open two suitcases without playing luggage Tetris. What I appreciated most was how quiet it stays, even with the windows open. Sure, you’ll get the occasional delivery truck in the morning, but nothing like the constant hum you’d expect being this close to downtown. The kitchen is well-equipped too – I’m talking real plates and glasses, not plastic tourist stuff, plus a coffee machine that actually makes decent coffee (though honestly, just walk to that bakery I mentioned). The décor is sort of modern-meets-traditional French, with these nice wood floors and updated fixtures that don’t feel sterile. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that awkward key-passing dance you sometimes get with apartment rentals.

Here’s the thing about the location that really works: you’re positioned perfectly between the historic center and the more residential Krutenau district, so you can easily walk to the big sights but also stumble into actual neighborhood life. The European Parliament is just across the river if that’s your thing, and there’s a decent tram connection right on Avenue de la Forêt-Noire if you want to venture further out. Parking can be a bit tricky – street spots are limited and you’ll need to feed the meters during the day, but there’s an underground garage about five minutes away if you’re driving. I’d definitely recommend this place for people who want to feel less like tourists and more like temporary residents. The 8.1 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises: a comfortable, well-located base that lets you experience Strasbourg without the tourist hotel bubble.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Strasbourg at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak December season when the city hosts its world-famous Christmas celebrations.

Reviews

  • Very good – Hilke from Australia – 18 June 2025 (8/10)

Walking distance to city, spacious, good facilities

What could be improved: Could use a little TLC, but totally liveable

  • Location was perfect – it was comfortable, quiet and clean. – Mamiesuzanne from Canada – 18 March 2025 (8/10)

The location was fantastic to allow us to see a lot of the city, it was close enough to public transportation (which is very affordable). The locks were a bit tricky and the address difficult to identify, but once we found it, it was great.
It was quiet and clean and had all the necessary kitchen tools to prépare some meals on site.

What could be improved: It was a bit difficult to find, at first, in the dark as the addresses were not well identified on the building and the surrounding street. Once we contacted the owner, we were properly guided to access the property.

  • Very good – Danielle from United States – 4 December 2024 (8/10)

Great location and spacious and comfortable apartment

What could be improved: Check in instructions were unclear and then tough to follow over the phone

  • Very nice apartment, excellent location, kind hosts – Stanimira from Bulgaria – 28 October 2024 (9/10)

The apartment is perfectly located at about 12-15 minutes from the train station and 10-12 minutes from the Cathedrale. The location is simply great! The place is very quiet. There is a nice supermartket nearby. We had refular communication with the hosts via mails/Booking messages before our trip and it all went very smoothly. Upon check-in they guided us on the phone and although we had to go through several doors there was no difficulty at all. At the time of reservation we were told that we will receive "A checklist guaranteeing the condition of the accommodation", and I thought this was going to be something like an inventory, but it turned out to be a list of "traces" left by previous tenants on the furniture. At the beginning, I was a little stressed thinking "What if they had not noticed something that was there before our arrival and after we leave they say it was our fault" (something like scratch, or stain …), having also in mind that we have paid a 500 Euro deposit for potential damages. But then, we all left these thoughts behind and just enjoyed our stay there and the beauties of Strasbourg and Alsace! Luckily, everything was fine and just two days after our departure the deposit was repaid 🙂 Thank you, Fabrice 🙂
The property is exactly as described on the web site. If we go to Strasbourg again, we would definitely book it again. It is great value for money!

  • Good Accomodation and reasonable price – Graeme from Australia – 21 June 2024 (8/10)

Clean, as advertised and in a good location. Good quick communication with owner.

  • Superb – Leonard from Australia – 20 March 2023 (9/10)

It was in walking distance to everything.

What could be improved: There wasn't any face to face communication

  • The room was fine but overall we were not happy with the deal and the service. – Evi from Greece – 25 November 2022 (7/10)

The location is convenient. Parking is 10 min walk in a shopping mall.
The apartment is modern and spacious. The rooms were clean.

What could be improved: We had to give via a credit system 500 Euro (!!!) deposit for potential damages before we arrived. The fee for 2 nights was about 350 so the deposit was too high. After we left, we did not get any confirmation from owner that all is OK and he will not take the money.
There were no amenities in the apartment so no coffee, sugar or shower gel, shampoos.
We could only get the keys at 18.00 (as the owner had a personal issue) and because of traffic the pesron who handed the keys came 30m min later.

  • Close to city centre with good food options all around – Ganesh from Luxembourg – 21 July 2025 (7/10)

    Well Maintained

What could be improved: The impression while booking was that the parking would be within the building however I had to park my electric car on the roadside. This was not clear while booking.

  • Very nice stay – Maciej from Belgium – 22 May 2025 (9/10)

    Excellent location. Well equipped. Comfortable.

What could be improved: The check in process is complicated.

  • Very good – Ravinun from Thailand – 15 April 2025 (8/10)

The property is nice. The host is helpful. Location is quite close to the tourists spots

What could be improved: Bathroom should have better curtaining.
