Hotel Description
You know what surprised me most about Le Faisan? How quiet it actually is despite being right in the heart of Strasbourg’s old town. I mean, you’re literally 200 meters from the cathedral – and honestly, when they say 200 meters, they’re not exaggerating like most places do. It’s a genuine two-minute stroll down Rue du Faisan to Place de la Cathédrale, which means you can pop out for morning coffee and be back before your travel companion even finishes getting ready.
The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile hotel room, which I really appreciated after staying in too many cookie-cutter places. The setup works well for couples or small families – there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without tripping over each other, and the kitchen is properly equipped if you want to grab some Alsatian specialties from the morning market at Place du Marché aux Poissons (about a five-minute walk). What I loved was how the place captures that classic Strasbourg vibe with the timber framing you see everywhere in Petite France, but without the tourist crowds literally outside your window. The 8.2 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything works and the location is genuinely unbeatable.
Here’s the thing about staying this close to the cathedral though – you’ll hear the bells, especially on Sunday mornings. Some people might find that annoying, but honestly? There’s something pretty magical about waking up to centuries-old church bells in one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. The trade-off is worth it because you’re walking distance from everything that matters: the Christmas markets in winter (the main one is right there at the cathedral), those amazing winstubs where locals actually eat, and you can easily explore both the German and French sides of the city without dealing with trams or parking hassles. Check-in was straightforward, and the host clearly knows the neighborhood well – they’ll point you toward the good bakeries and away from the tourist traps. For a 3-star place, Le Faisan delivers exactly what you’d want: a comfortable base in an incredible location without breaking the bank.
To book a hotel in Strasbourg during the famous Christmas Market season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts holiday enthusiasts and culture lovers from around the world.

Excellent location, nice apartment with all the necesseties. – Jules_gibson from Spain – 22 December 2024 (8/10)
Location was excellent. A short walk to everything.
Nice apartment, perfect location, thoughtful equipped – Judith from Belgium – 11 October 2024 (9/10)
The apartment itself is really nice. Very well equipped, stylish, calm, clean, comfortable, spacious. The only thing that disturbed me a bit was that it is on the groundfloor with windows to the court. So I left the blinds shut morning and evening when I was in the apartment.
I was happy that I could enter the apartment earlier. So very flexible as for the timing. I struggled a bit with the electronic case the keys were in when bringing it back. The apartment provided a pleasant haven of peace right in the historic centre of the city. – Belgian from Belgium – 29 September 2024 (9/10)
Location. Decor and lighting. Storage space. Quiet. Bedding.
What could be improved: Blind in kitchen needs repair as it is hard to use, but necessary for security when going out as the apartment is on the ground floor.
There is no fan evacuation for bathroom or kitchen so humidity and kitchen smells linger.Due to the extreme heat we spent more time than intended in the apartment. Noisy fan – Valerie from United Kingdom – 17 August 2024 (7/10)
Location was excellent
What could be improved: More detailed instructions, in EnglushExceptional – Jurgen from Belgium – 16 October 2024 (10/10)
The apartment was very clean
What could be improved: It was a bit cold at first, but then it was okBad – Georgiana from Romania – 3 January 2025 (1/10)
What could be improved: There was no hot water 2 evenings in a row. I was told that if it was consumed, I have to wait for it to heat up, but there was no one at the accommodation to serve it.
Séjour globalement très agréable – Françoise from France – 1 May 2025 (9/10)
Appartement agréable, ou rien ne manque. Emplacement idéal, d'où l'on peut tout faire à pied, visites, restaurants…).
What could be improved: RienUn nid douillet au cœur de la ville – Sabine from France – 18 October 2024 (9/10)
L’appartamento è nuovo e fornito di tutto. Ottima pulizia e posizione perfetta.
What could be improved: La porta d’ingresso non era molto insonorizzata e si sentivano le voci e il rumore del portoncino ogni volta che qualcuno entrava o usciva.Ganz toll. Wir kommen gerne wieder. – Johannes from Germany – 3 July 2025 (10/10)
Super Lage. Bequemes Bett. Tolle Dusche. Perfekt.
What could be improved: Kostenlose oder günstige Parkplatztipps. Auch gerne etwas weiter entfernt. Das empfohlene Parkhaus hat für 2 Nächte 56€ gekostet. Und wir sind spät angereist und früh gefahren.
