Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Le Corbeau? The name literally means “The Crow” in French, which sounds kind of ominous, but this place is actually the complete opposite of what you’d expect. I mean, it’s tucked away on Rue des Bouchers – that’s “Butchers Street” for those keeping track of Strasbourg’s wonderfully medieval naming conventions – but don’t let that fool you either. This whole area used to be where the guild butchers worked centuries ago, and now it’s one of those perfect little pedestrian streets where you can actually hear yourself think.
The apartment itself is honestly impressive for what you’re paying. It’s got that solid 4-star feel without being stuffy about it, and the “grand appartement” part isn’t just marketing fluff – there’s genuinely space to spread out, which is rare when you’re staying right in the historic center. The thing that really sold me was how quiet it actually gets at night. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Place Kléber (that’s the main square where everything happens), but somehow the street layout creates this little pocket of calm. I stayed there during summer when the terrasses are packed until late, and honestly? You barely hear it. The old stone buildings just seem to absorb all that energy from the busier streets.
What I really appreciate is how they’ve kept the character of the building – you can tell it’s got history – but updated everything that actually matters. The bathroom doesn’t feel like you’re camping, the WiFi works properly (crucial when you’re trying to book dinner at Maison Kammerzell), and there’s enough counter space that you can actually unpack without living out of your suitcase. The 7.5 rating makes sense to me; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Strasbourg, but it delivers exactly what it promises. I’d probably dock a few points for the check-in process being a bit scattered – nothing terrible, just not as smooth as some places – but that’s pretty minor when you consider the location.
Here’s the thing about staying right there: you’re close enough to wander over to the cathedral in your pajamas if you wanted to (not that I’d recommend it), but you’re also perfectly positioned for those early morning runs along the Ill River before the tourists wake up. The Petite France area is maybe a ten-minute walk, and you can cut through all these little side streets that most people miss entirely. Plus – and this is key if you’re driving – there’s actually decent parking nearby at the Place Gutenberg garage, which sounds obvious but trust me, parking in Strasbourg’s center can be a nightmare if you don’t know where to look.

We had a fantastic stay at this property and would definitely consider staying here again. – Herman from South Africa – 26 May 2025 (9/10)
We had a fantastic stay at this property in Strasbourg. The apartment is spacious, clean, and well-equipped, situated in a great location within an authentic old French building full of character. The location was exceptional for our trip, being very central to the cathedral and with numerous restaurants within walking distance.
Convenience was a highlight, as the house is next to a supermarket and there is a lovely coffee shop across the road. The host recommended a nearby parking garage, which was very close to the apartment and easy to use. The beds were comfortable, the sheets were fresh, and the shower was excellent. Communication with the host was seamless; check-in and check-out instructions were clear, and the host even talked us through the check-in process over the phone, which was a nice touch.
While a few items in the apartment needed some attention, the host provided a clear list of defects beforehand, so there were no surprises. We would definitely consider staying here again if we return to Strasbourg.
What could be improved: I do not have much other feedback, but since I’m asked I’ll provide the following: the high security deposit, which was mentioned upfront during booking, was still unusual for me, as this is the only property that required such a deposit throughout our France trip, especially since I booked and fully paid for the accommodation well ahead of time. The coffee maker was a bit tricky to use due to the missing tray and should be repaired and I think it is also time to replace the coach.Easy access to everything – Nadim from Canada – 25 April 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: NAVery good – Hajnalka from Hungary – 14 September 2024 (8/10)
Very good location, clean and big apartment. Easy communication with host. A grocery in the same building. One should be aware about the significant deposit, which is only cancelled 1-2 weeks after leaving.
What could be improved: No possibility to open window in two bedrooms , there are no windows.Superb – Ngoc from Vietnam – 3 July 2024 (9/10)
It was very center. You can reach the supermarket anywhere in the area of this house. The house is next to a supermarket too so it’s easy for you to buy something you need. The location is good. The owner was also good. When we were there, the wash machine unfortunately had a crash so i can’t open it to use. We stayed just 2 nights so it’s ok for us.
Excellent location and value for money – Melissa from Australia – 10 April 2024 (8/10)
Excellent location, good size apartment. Great value for money.
What could be improved: Bed was uncomfortable and only one bad pillow supplied per person. No soap or shower wash supplied. There is a fruit shop part of this complex and they start setting up at 4:30am VERY loudlySuperb – Sami from Lebanon – 29 December 2023 (9/10)
The location and the apartment itself
What could be improved: The entrance till you reach the apartment and the fact that there is no liftSpacious, clean and great location for Xmas markets – Sammy from United Kingdom – 13 December 2023 (9/10)
Spacious, clean, warm and well equipped apartment. Beds and sheets were comfortable and shower was also lovely.
Location was great – close to the centre but also quiet with some nice boulangeries nearby. Great for Xmas markets! It's above a supermarket but we didn't hear anything.
Owner was also nice and flexible with our check in and out times.
What could be improved: The check in instructions were light and not very clear so I ended up having to call. It would have been good to know that there are many stairs and no lift as we had heavy suitcases.Spacious apartment in a great location – Thomas from United States – 4 October 2023 (9/10)
We loved the spacious apartment and its location. We were near a market, nice restaurants and pharmacy. We were very comfortable here.
What could be improved: The inventory list to check for damages at check in was a bit confusing. When we noted other issues, we were informed it wasn’t necessary. As there was a €500 damage hold on a credit card, we felt the need to be thorough so as not to be charged for damages not on the list.Very good – Ozde from Turkey – 7 December 2022 (8/10)
the appartment is very big and the location is very good. the hosts are really helpful.
What could be improved: It has just one mirror in the toilet. More mirrors are needed 🙂
