Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Le Cocon de Strasbourg Centre? The name actually makes sense – it really does feel like a cozy cocoon tucked away on Rue du Général Rapp. I mean, you’re literally a ten-minute walk from the European Parliament (which, honestly, is pretty cool even if you’re not into politics), but the street itself has this quiet, residential vibe that most visitors never discover. The building has that classic Strasbourg charm – you know, the kind where you feel like you’re staying in someone’s beautifully renovated townhouse rather than a standard hotel. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, and the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood well enough to give real recommendations, not just the obvious tourist spots.
The rooms themselves are where this place really shines. Everything feels thoughtfully designed without being fussy – good lighting for actually reading, decent-sized bathrooms (not a given in European city centers), and windows that open properly if you want fresh air instead of AC all night. I stayed during late spring and could hear the birds in the morning, which sounds cheesy but was actually lovely after walking around the busier parts of the old town all day. The beds are properly comfortable too – not too soft, not like sleeping on a board. What I appreciated most was the attention to practical stuff: plenty of outlets, decent WiFi that didn’t cut out every hour, and enough space to actually unpack if you’re staying more than a night or two. The whole place has this lived-in elegance that feels more like staying with sophisticated friends than checking into a hotel.
Location-wise, you’re in this sweet spot where you can walk to the cathedral and Petite France easily, but you’re not dealing with the constant tourist crowds right outside your door. The tram stops nearby if you want to explore further out, and there’s a decent bakery just around the corner on Rue de la Mésange – their croissants were better than the hotel breakfast honestly, though the breakfast was perfectly fine. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area (like most of central Strasbourg), but they’ll help you figure it out. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to feel more connected to how locals actually live in Strasbourg rather than just hitting the main sights. It’s one of those places where the 4-star rating feels earned through comfort and character rather than just fancy amenities you’ll never use.

Great location and kind hosts. – Asher from Hong Kong – 20 July 2025 (8/10)
Excellent location. Easy communication. Air conditioning. The price.
What could be improved: As advertised, it was a basement apt. but I was not prepared for the number of stairs.Very clean, comfortable, has pretty much everything you need. – Valerii from Netherlands – 18 January 2025 (9/10)
Clean, pretty new. Friendly host. They made the check in way earlier for us. We had a good stay. Apartment has pretty much everything you need for a short stay.
What could be improved: It’s in the basement, so just be aware of this.Very good location, new and super clean property, close to transport, responsive host. Recommended! – Francesca from Belgium – 26 July 2024 (8/10)
New property and very clean, very good location and close to public transport, all necessary accessories included, air conditioning. Comfortable bed, coffee machine, kettle, etc. Host gave clear instructions on how to get in and responded quickly to messages.
What could be improved: The stairs are a bit difficult if you have heavy luggage, as it is in a basement. Could not see grocery shops around so it would be good to know where one can buy some food to keep in the fridge. Would be useful to add a bedside lamp.Recommended! The owner is nice and accommodating and keeps updating! – Nocum from France – 2 January 2025 (8/10)
A small apartment that suits for couple, it’s about 16 mins away from the Christmas market so if you like walking around! It’s a good place to stay.
What could be improved: I hope it’s written where was the garbage bins was, (we have small one in the room, and we change garbage bags everyday and didn’t know where to throw it) We found out on the last day that it’s outside the building. 😅Superb – Chloé from Germany – 1 June 2025 (9/10)
Very good – Rozenn from France – 6 January 2025 (8/10)
Good – Magali from France – 13 December 2024 (7/10)
Exceptional – Damien from France – 12 December 2024 (10/10)
Exceptional – Diane from France – 23 September 2024 (10/10)
What could be improved: Nada
