Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Le Balcon fleuri? The name actually makes sense when you see it – there really are flower boxes spilling over the balconies, and honestly, it’s pretty charming in that effortless French way. I stayed here last spring and I mean, the location on Rue des Jardiniers is just perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Strasbourg rather than just visiting it. The Robertsau neighborhood isn’t where most tourists end up, which is exactly why I loved it. You’re about a ten-minute tram ride from the cathedral chaos, but you wake up to actual French people walking their dogs and buying bread, not crowds of selfie sticks.
The hotel itself feels more like a well-kept family place than some corporate chain – which at 3 stars, you’d expect, but this one actually delivers on that promise. My room had this lovely little balcony (hence the name, I suppose) that looked out over a quiet courtyard, and the morning light was just gorgeous. The beds are comfortable enough, though the pillows were a bit soft for my taste – but that’s such a personal thing, isn’t it? What I really appreciated was how quiet everything was at night. The street doesn’t get much traffic, and the walls seem properly thick, not like those paper-thin places where you hear every conversation in the hallway. The tram stop for the Jardiniers line is literally a two-minute walk, and from there you can get anywhere in the city without dealing with parking or navigation headaches.
The staff genuinely seem to care about the place – I had this lovely chat with the woman at reception about where to find the best tarte flambée (not in Petite France, apparently, but in this tiny place near the university). She also warned me that the market on Saturday mornings gets pretty busy, which saved me from wandering into that crowd unprepared. Look, it’s not going to blow your mind with fancy amenities or room service, but everything works well and feels thoughtfully maintained. The bathroom was properly hot water, good pressure, and clean towels that didn’t smell like industrial detergent. Sometimes that’s all you need, you know? The 9.2 rating makes total sense to me – it’s the kind of place that does exactly what it promises without any pretense. If you want to stay somewhere that feels authentically Strasbourg and gives you easy access to explore both the touristy bits and the real neighborhoods, this is a solid choice.

Nestled near the Human Rights Court (10 min walking) this Airbnb gem exceeded all expectations. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was enveloped in a sense of warmth and tranquillity.
The apartment itself was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated, with every detail carefully thought out to ensure a comfortable stay. The cosy living area was perfect for unwinding after a day of work and exploring the city, and the plush sofa beckoned for lazy afternoons spent with a good book.
What truly set this Airbnb apart was the charming outdoor terrace. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city streets, it offered a peaceful retreat where I could enjoy my morning coffee or savour a glass of wine as the sun dipped below the skyline.
But what truly made this Airbnb experience memorable was the hospitality of the host. From the moment I booked, they went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was nothing short of perfect. Their local recommendations were spot-on, and they were always readily available to answer any questions I had.Exceptional – Lisa from France – 22 June 2025 (10/10)
