Honestly, when I first heard the name “L’Académie – Magnifique 3 chambres Krutenau,” I thought it might be one of those places that sounds fancier than it actually is. But you know what? This little gem on Rue de l’Académie totally lives up to the hype, and I mean that in the best possible way.

The location alone is worth talking about – you’re right in Krutenau, which is this amazing blend of old Strasbourg charm and actual neighborhood life. I’m talking about being a five-minute walk from the cathedral (though honestly, who’s counting when the cobblestone streets are this pretty), but also close enough to those little bakeries on Rue des Juifs where locals actually buy their morning croissants. The parking situation is actually sorted, which… well, if you’ve ever tried to park anywhere near Strasbourg’s center, you’ll know that’s basically a small miracle. No circling the block for twenty minutes hoping for a spot.

What really got me about this place was how it feels like staying in someone’s well-curated apartment rather than a typical hotel. The three bedrooms are spread out nicely – perfect if you’re traveling with family or friends who actually want some space from each other. The whole place has this lived-in elegance, if that makes sense. Not sterile or overly polished, but thoughtfully put together with those little touches that show someone cares. I loved the morning light streaming through the windows, and you can actually hear the neighborhood waking up – the gentle clatter of the tram on Rue du Faubourg National, people heading to work, the flower market setting up. It’s real city sounds, not traffic chaos.

The 8.4 rating makes complete sense once you’ve been there. It’s not trying to be a five-star palace, but it absolutely nails what it is going for. The kitchen setup is actually functional (rare in vacation rentals, honestly), and there’s something really satisfying about being able to grab fresh ingredients from the Saturday market at Place du Marché aux Poissons and cook them properly. Plus, when you do want to eat out, you’re perfectly positioned – Winstub Brenner is practically around the corner, and if you’re in the mood for something more casual, that little Vietnamese place on Rue de Zurich hits differently after a day of wandering around Petite France.

I should mention – if you’re expecting hotel-style daily housekeeping and a concierge, this isn’t that kind of place. But if you want to feel like you’re actually living in Strasbourg for a few days, with your own space and the freedom to come and go as you please, L’Académie really delivers. The Krutenau neighborhood has this perfect balance of being central enough that you can walk everywhere important, but residential enough that you’re not constantly dodging tour groups. Actually, some of my favorite moments were just sitting by the window in the evening, watching people walk their dogs and head to dinner, feeling like I’d found this perfect little slice of Alsatian life.

Early hotels booking in Strasbourg is essential during major events like the Christmas Market, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city’s renowned festive atmosphere and Gothic architecture.

  Great and spacious appartmant. Location fantastic. Very quite.
  
  What could be improved: As we were in hot summer days (also warm), the problem was with temperature in the appartment. Even with closed blind during day, there were wery hot in the appartment. Outside was 32C, inside 28C!!! (Even in the night) There is no air condition, but air ventilators can not help, even provided. Its because all the windows are looking to the South thats why Sun was shining into appartmant almost all day- from 11.am-6p.m.

  The location is great – just 10 min walking from the centre. Three bedrooms are very useful of U R travelling with teenagers. Two bathrooms are also the advantage. Free of charge parking is nice. Family liked balcony.
  
  What could be improved: There is no air-condition which is really needed in hot days – blinders do not help. Parking place is rather narrow – we had Volvo XC 60, so mid size SUV and it barely fitted. While leaving we had to leave keys in the other destination instead of just putting them on the table. There also should be more plates and mugs – not just for one meal.

  Location is excellent. 7 minutes walk to cathedral Notre Dame and Christmas markets.
  
  What could be improved: Beds are not that comfortable. I suggest to add one more toilet for this big apartment and also a shower curtain for the large bathroom.

  What could be improved: L'appartamento aveva tre bagni ma solo uno con il water e quindi poco funzionale per chi viaggia con amici. Inoltre il check-in e il checkout non sono dei migliori perché le chiavi devono essere prese e lasciate in una lavanderia nelle vicinanze,. Quindi non incontri nessuno dello staff e se piove o vai di fretta diventa scomodo.
