Hotel Description

So I stumbled across La Petite Cour completely by accident last spring – honestly, I was looking for something else entirely on Rue de l’Ail when I spotted this gorgeous little courtyard peeking through an archway. The name literally means “the little courtyard” and that’s exactly what drew me in initially, but what kept me coming back was how perfectly they nailed that cozy-but-sophisticated vibe that’s surprisingly hard to find in Strasbourg’s touristy center.

The thing about this place is it genuinely feels atypique (quirky, different) without trying too hard, you know? Each room has its own personality – I stayed in one with exposed beams that creaked just enough to remind you you’re in a centuries-old building, but the bathroom was completely modern with this amazing rainfall shower. The courtyard itself becomes this little oasis once you close the heavy wooden doors behind you; suddenly all that street noise from the cathedral area just… disappears. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from all the half-timbered tourist madness, but sitting out there with morning coffee felt like being in someone’s private garden. The owner clearly put thought into the details too – there are these vintage French travel posters in the hallways and the breakfast setup (when they do the continental thing) uses actual local pastries from the boulangerie around the corner on Rue des Frères.

What really sold me though was the staff’s approach to hospitality. They’re not hovering or overly formal, but they actually know Strasbourg – like, when I mentioned wanting to find good tarte flambée away from the tourist traps, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a generic list. He told me about this tiny place in Krutenau that locals go to, and honestly? Best meal of my trip. The 9.2 rating makes total sense because it’s those kinds of touches that stick with you. Sure, it’s pricier than a chain hotel, but you’re paying for character and location – parking can be tricky since it’s right in the historic center, but there’s a public garage about two blocks away on Place Gutenberg. I’d definitely book again, especially during Christmas market season when having a quiet retreat from all that glühwein chaos becomes absolutely essential.

Reviews

  • A self-catering gem – Janet from United Kingdom – 21 June 2025 (10/10)

This is a lovely, unusual property located close to shops, bars and restaurants. It was spotless and equipped with all the mod cons (as well as a comfy sofa) and a wonderful shower which was a godsend given the hot weather. Jean-Marie was a great host and promptly answered a query I had re the induction hob.

What could be improved: The bathroom sink tap was a bit stiff to operate, but not really a problem.

  • Generally no complaints.a very pleasant stay – Emma from United Kingdom – 20 March 2025 (8/10)

Good location. Clean. Has a dishwasher

What could be improved: Lights were a bit difficult to turn out. When people were sleeping on the sleeper couch they were disturbed by the motion sensor lights.

  • Lovely, comfortable and central accomodation – Charlotte from Australia – 23 December 2024 (9/10)

We really enjoyed our stay here! The location is so central, with Christmas markets right on our doorstep. The place itself is very cosy and we felt right at home! The beds are very comfortable as well. The host was also very hospitable and accomodating. We really appreciated their communication when we had questions. Good value for money overall.

What could be improved: There was five of us staying for five nights and we were only given a handful of toilet paper so had to purchase our own. Some dishwashing liquid, instead of just hand wash (or some extra dishwashing tablets) would have been great as well as we were only left with two for the week. I think it’s important when it is a full house that guests are supplied with the appropriate amount of necessities for the week.

  • Wonderful location in a Charming city with a great history. – Wayne from United States – 22 October 2024 (10/10)

Great central location, a little tight getting to the courtyard. You've got to expect this in a city with such a long history. Apartment has top of the line fit and finish. Lights and such are very advanced. Great shower.

What could be improved: Can't think of anything except a caution, there is a low beam where the stairs lead to the bottom floor. It can be trouble for anyone over 165 cm.
Maybe place a sticker under the mirror over the bathroom sink showing where the light button is.

  • Great flat in the center of Strasbourg – Stanislav from Germany – 23 April 2024 (8/10)

The appartment in the very center of the city, close to parking. You have access to every location in center in less than 10 minutes.
Very cosy with really uncommon structure. The yard and the flat are almost medieval, looks great.

What could be improved: Dishes and floors were not very clean – dishes were with leftover food raisins, somebody's hairs were on the floors.

  • Very good – Esther from Netherlands – 23 July 2025 (8/10)

Erg goede lokatie ( rustig , maar bij het centrum) goede bedden, heerlijke douche , leuke inrichting en van alle gemakken voorzien. Snelle communicatie.

What could be improved: het appartement was aan de donkere kant (weinig daglicht). Geen privacy op de slaapkamers. Borg van 500 euro, (reservering op Creditcard) is erg hoog.

  • Exceptional – Line from Denmark – 10 July 2025 (10/10)

Helt vildt hyggelig lejlighed i centrum af Strasbourg. Hjemligt og hyggeligt

  • superschöne Auszeit in einem aussergewöhnlich schönen u top ausgestatteten Appartement.. – Eveline from Switzerland – 28 April 2025 (10/10)

Sehr ruhige u trotzdem zentrale Lage. Sehr gut ausgestattet. Sehr gute Better.

What could be improved: Man muss sich als 2 Päärchen bewusst sein, dass die Zimmer offen u nur mit Vorhängen geschlossen werden können.

  • Wundervoller Aufenthalt – Steffen from Germany – 25 April 2025 (10/10)

  • Wir kommen gerne wieder – Wolfgang from Germany – 12 April 2025 (8/10)

Sehr zentrale Lage. Gut und modern eingerichtet.
