Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first walked up to La Parenthèse on Rue Saint-Marc, I wasn’t expecting much – it’s tucked into this narrow street that you’d probably miss if you weren’t looking for it. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made it perfect. You’re literally a three-minute walk from all the tourist chaos around Petite France, but when you come back to your studio at night, it’s actually quiet enough to sleep without earplugs.
The studio itself is one of those places that gets the basics right without trying to be fancy about it. Clean, functional, with enough space that you’re not tripping over your suitcase every time you want to make coffee. The kitchenette is small but honestly, it has everything you need – I made breakfast there most mornings and it was way better than paying hotel prices for croissants. What really struck me was how the owner (or whoever set this place up) actually thought about what travelers need. There are enough outlets near the bed, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the shower has decent water pressure. I mean, these sound like tiny things until you’ve stayed in places that get them wrong.
The location thing is where this place really shines, though. You’re close enough to walk to the cathedral in about ten minutes, but you’re also right there when you want to explore the actual neighborhoods where people live. There’s this little bakery around the corner on Rue des Juifs that barely any tourists know about – their pain au chocolat is honestly better than the famous places everyone lines up for. And if you’re the type who likes to grab groceries instead of eating out every meal, there’s a Monoprix just a few blocks away. Parking can be a bit of a headache in this area (well, it’s Strasbourg’s old town, what do you expect?), but if you’re planning to walk everywhere anyway, just park once and forget about your car for a few days. The tram stop at Langstross-Grand’Rue is close enough that you can easily get to the European Parliament or the university area if that’s your thing. I stayed here in late spring and it was perfect – not too crowded yet, nice weather for walking around, and you could actually get a table at the winstubs without waiting forever.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Strasbourg at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak December season when the city hosts its world-famous Christmas celebrations.

What could be improved: Bei geöffnetem Fenster konnte man von der Straße direkt in das Zimmer hineinsehen.Superb – Dietmar from Germany – 21 June 2025 (9/10)
Ruhige Lage, Altsatdt zu Fuß gut erreichbar, Bäckerei um die Ecke (Sonntags geschlossen), Parkhaus Petit France (9€/Tag) 7 min zu Fuß entfernt. Schlüsselüberagbe via Schlüsselbox. alles in allem sehr empfehlenswert.
What could be improved: Bett ist etwas klein für 2 Personen
