Hotel Description

You know what? I walked past Hotel Victoria probably a dozen times before I actually stayed there, and honestly, I was missing out. It sits right on Rue du Maire Kuss – which, if you’re not familiar with Strasbourg, is one of those perfectly positioned side streets that keeps you close to everything without the tourist chaos. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the cathedral (and trust me, you’ll hear those bells), but you’re tucked away enough that you can actually sleep at night.

The building itself has that classic Alsatian charm – you know, the kind where you can tell it’s been here forever but someone’s actually taken care of it. When I checked in, the lobby felt… well, it felt honest. Not trying to be something it’s not. The staff behind the desk actually knew the neighborhood – like, really knew it. When I asked about parking (because let’s be real, driving in Strasbourg’s old town is a nightmare), they didn’t just point me to the nearest garage. They told me about the street parking situation, when to avoid certain blocks, and which tram stops would save me the walk back with groceries. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t fake.

The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid three-star – clean, comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works. Actually, I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re right in the heart of things. The walls aren’t paper-thin like some places I’ve stayed in European city centers. And here’s something I appreciated: the shower pressure was actually decent. Sounds silly, but after a long day wandering around Petite France or climbing cathedral towers, you want a shower that works. The WiFi held up too, which matters if you’re trying to plan your next day or – let’s be honest – upload those cathedral photos to Instagram. Look, it’s not going to win any design awards, but there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on getting the basics right instead of charging you extra for marble bathrooms you don’t really need. Plus, that 7.9 rating? It makes sense once you’re there. The location alone is worth it – you can walk to the Christmas markets in winter (though good luck finding a room then), stroll to the European Parliament if that’s your thing, or just wander the winding streets without feeling like you need to trek back to some distant hotel district at the end of the night.

Reviews

  • excellent place for short city break – Jennifer from United Kingdom – 8 June 2025 (9/10)

    excellent reception staff

What could be improved: little bit cramped in breakfast area

  • Very good – Robert from United States – 27 May 2025 (8/10)

Near the train station; lots of shops and restaurants nearby; very clean and updated

  • Superb – Yuliya from Ukraine – 4 May 2025 (9/10)

Very clean small cozy room. Very tasty breakfast, so friendly lady works in the canteen. Location just in the center on the way from train station to old city.

What could be improved: Noise from the street at night but earplugs totally solving the problem

  • Very good – Natcha from Thailand – 2 April 2025 (8/10)

Great location very near train station and tourist spot

  • Very close to train station, strange front desk. – Katelyn from United States – 1 April 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: Being chatty with a customer in a language you don’t fully understand can end up offending them. Guy at front desk asked me where I’m from, which I said the States, told me he “didn’t understand my accent very well.” keep your opinions to yourself whydontcha

  • Very good – Sandrokhan80 from Luxembourg – 23 March 2025 (8/10)

    Pulire e location

  • Good – Ia from Georgia – 6 March 2025 (7/10)

Hotel is in a very good location, great surroundings, everything's close.

What could be improved: We had a very negative experiance of check-in with super rude receptionist.
To start from the beggining, we had a reservation on two persons, as kids stay for free and we had no an issue to sleep wth the child, did not indicate it to the reservation. Logic behind as mentioned was – Kids stay for free, so what should have been an issue?!
On 26/12/24 at 18:00-19:00 we came to the hotel from a very long trip with the hope and idea to have a great rest.
When we approached reception the guy asked if child was with us, once confirmed he gave back my passport and told in a very rude fasion that he cant accomodate us beacuse of the child, as she was not indicated in the booking. On my argument that hotel policy has a specific child policy, responded that it only applies to city tax that is very strange. He even was not happy to call to the manager per my request, practically told that it was my problem and not his. At the end he called someone and charged us with additional 60eur.
I believe this does not apply to everyone working at this hotel, on the day of Check-out on 28/12/2024 was very polite guy controversy of the check-in.

AS I'M NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK ON YOUR RESPONSE THEREFORE UPDATING MY REVIEW.
@#VictoCrew YOUR FEEDBACK SAYS IT ALL! POLITE?! I BELIEVE YOU HAVE A DIFFERENT STANDARD OF POLITNESS, IT CAN BE READ THROUGH YOUR RESPONSE AS WELL. REFUSING TO ACCOMODATE GUEST IN ALREADY PRE-PAID ROOM BECAUSE OF THE CHILD… PAYING ADDITIONAL COST FOR THE CHILD AND EVEN DO NOT PROVIDE THIRD TOWEL, NOTHING SAYING ABOUT BED… GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR JUDGEMENT!

  • Would book again tho – Katarina from Germany – 5 March 2025 (7/10)

Really nice staff, the room was small but cozy

What could be improved: Maybe not good for light sleepers. I don’t know what exactly it was but I think the aircon made a lot of noises throughout the whole night and of course people outside were loud sometimes but that was not a huge problem

  • Comfy hotel for a quick visit to the city. Nothing out of the ordinary though – Koen from Netherlands – 28 February 2025 (8/10)

Good location just across the street from the train station, close to the city center. Good breakfast in the morning.

What could be improved: I think I’ve stayed in caravans that have larger bathrooms than this room, but it does the job. Double bed is good for sleeping alone, but quite narrow for two people.

  • Good location but a bit pricey for the room. – Parkash from Philippines – 25 December 2024 (7/10)

Location near train station and Christmas market.

What could be improved: A bit pricey
