Hôtel Régent Contades Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hôtel Régent Contades on avenue de la Liberté, you immediately get that feeling you’ve found something special. This four-star property sits in one of those perfectly preserved Strasbourg buildings that makes you slow down and actually look up from your phone. The entrance has this understated elegance — not flashy, but you know you’re somewhere that takes hospitality seriously. I mean, when couples are rating the location 9.3 out of 10, there’s clearly something magical about this spot.
Prime Strasbourg Location
Here’s what I love about staying here — you’re genuinely in the heart of Strasbourg, but on a street that doesn’t feel touristy or overwhelming. Avenue de la Liberté puts you within easy walking distance of the cathedral and Petite France, yet you can actually get a good night’s sleep. The neighborhood has that perfect mix of local cafes and shops that locals use, plus you’re close enough to everything that matters. Honestly, the location score of 9.3 isn’t surprising when you realize how effortlessly you can explore the city from here. The surrounding streets offer authentic charm and genuine local character.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had this wonderful balance of classic French style and modern comfort. What really stood out were the beds — and I’m someone who usually struggles with hotel mattresses. There’s something about the bedding here that just works, which explains why guests consistently rave about the sleep quality. The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re thoughtfully designed with enough space to actually unpack and settle in for a few days. Each detail has been carefully considered for maximum relaxation.
Breakfast and Practical Details
The breakfast setup is one of those continental buffets that actually gets it right. You know how some hotel breakfasts feel like an afterthought? Not here. They’ve got the French pastries you’d expect, but also enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying multiple nights. There’s also private parking available, which honestly is a huge relief in Strasbourg — trying to navigate the old town streets and find parking can be a real headache otherwise. The convenience factor here truly sets this property apart.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps bringing people back to Hôtel Régent Contades is this combination of location, comfort, and that intangible feeling that you’re staying somewhere that cares about details. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it delivers on the things that actually matter when you’re traveling. The staff seems to understand that guests want to feel settled and comfortable, not impressed by unnecessary flourishes. With an 8.6 rating, it’s clear that this approach resonates with travelers who want a genuine Strasbourg experience without compromising on quality. This hotel represents the perfect balance of accessibility and refinement.

Reviews of Hôtel Régent Contades
A great stay in Strasbourg – Marc from Netherlands – 23 July 2025 (8/10)
Great hotel in an even more beautiful city. Comfortable room.
What could be improved: Parking. We were lucky on a bank holiday, otherwise we would have had troubles.Superb – Richard from Switzerland – 13 July 2025 (9/10)
The location was excellent, at one edge of the old part of town. It's within good walking distance of the old part of Strasbourg, and is located close to the river. Staff was friendly. We took breakfast outside so I can't rate the quality
What could be improved: Parking is expensive, and if you are a foreigner meandering in France with a car, you need a "sustainability certificate" that classifies your car: get it early online. Shower in the room was little more than a dribble (which an inexperienced employee tried to turn into a feature by saying the city mandated such things to save water…mmm).Excellent value for money – Bart from Belgium – 13 July 2025 (9/10)
Location – staff – room

Large balcony, location, breakfast, linen and towel change, room cleanliness, communication (advance info), useful and helpful advice at reception, flowers in room, sauna.
What could be improved: Breakfast and staff were good but the atmosphere could have been improved with a little quiet music.
Overhead shower head was very weak, so much as to be unusable.Great nights sleep in quiet surroundings, right next to Strasbourg old town – Cathy from United Kingdom – 16 June 2025 (9/10)
Beautiful traditional building and features. Fabulous sheets and bedding.

Pricey for what you het – Ken from Austria – 7 June 2025 (8/10)
Very friendly staff, very accommodating!
What could be improved: The hotel's best days seem to be behind it, the paint is peeling, my room smelled a bit of damp, the carpets are worn, the place just doesn't look in top shape. A shame, really, because staff were sooo friendly and helpful. Plus my room was tiiiiny. Not at all worth the over €200/night.Classic hotel well located – Ed from United States – 30 May 2025 (10/10)
Just a short walk to the Old Town area.
What could be improved: Nothing
