Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Hôtel ORIGAMI? The name actually makes perfect sense once you see the place. There’s this clean, geometric thing happening with the architecture that feels very intentional – sort of like someone took traditional Alsatian building elements and folded them into something completely modern. It sits on Rue du bataillon de marche, which honestly isn’t the most charming street name, but the location works really well. You’re close enough to the old town that you can walk to the cathedral in about fifteen minutes, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos right outside your window.

The staff here actually seem to know Strasbourg – I mean really know it, not just the obvious spots everyone hits. When I asked about dinner, the front desk guy steered me away from the touristy winstubs near Petite France and pointed me toward this little place in Krutenau that locals actually go to. That kind of insight is worth something. The rooms have this minimalist thing going on that could feel sterile, but somehow doesn’t – maybe it’s the way the light comes in, or the fact that everything just works properly. The shower pressure is solid (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case in European hotels), and the beds are firm without being punishing. I stayed on the third floor and it was genuinely quiet at night, which in Strasbourg can be hit or miss depending on where you end up.

Here’s what I appreciated: check-in was smooth, no weird surprises with city taxes or WiFi charges, and the breakfast – well, it’s not going to change your life, but it’s proper French hotel breakfast with decent coffee and actual butter, not those little plastic packets. The whole place feels like someone put thought into the details without getting precious about it. Is it perfect? Not quite – the elevator is tiny and there’s not much common space if you want to hang out somewhere other than your room. But honestly, with the Parc de l’Orangerie just a short walk away and the tram line so close, you’re probably not going to spend much time in the lobby anyway. The 8.6 rating feels about right – it’s the kind of place that does what it promises well, without any big surprises good or bad. If you want to stay somewhere that feels distinctly Strasbourg but doesn’t trap you in ye olde tourism bubble, this works.

Visitors often choose Strasbourg apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent European capital.

Reviews

  • We really enjoyed our stay. Lovely rooms and weall got a great sleep. – Jane from United Kingdom – 5 July 2025 (8/10)

Fantastic family room, in fact rooms. Great to have two separate bedrooms. Place was modern and spotless. Beds were very comfortable.

What could be improved: Not ideal having mirrors behind the door.mirror above desk would be perfect. The lighting system was not good. Either had to have all the lights on or all the lights off. Had to turn off electrics with door card to make the lights go off. Had to have shower by torch light to avoid waking the children because plugging in the key card for bathroom light switched all the lights on in both bedrooms.

  • Clean, cool and comfortable. In a quiet location but close access to tram/bus . – Karen from United Kingdom – 2 July 2025 (8/10)

Rooms were spacious, cool and clean.

What could be improved: A bit away from centre but close to bus/tram station. No bars or restaurants nearby .

  • Will definitely come back – Ivayla from Switzerland – 2 July 2025 (10/10)

  • Excellent hotel, lovely staff, great value for money – Kate from United Kingdom – 2 July 2025 (9/10)

Staff and cleanliness. Lovely rooms and good value also a beautiful graveyard to walk around next door if you’re up early with a baby like I was!

What could be improved: Its location/ but I knew that when I booked it! And it’s much cheaper than in town! I think if the tram wasn’t off it would have been much easier

  • Fantastic stay in a lovely modern hotel close to the tram station and absolutely loved Strasbourg! – Alan from United Kingdom – 23 June 2025 (10/10)

Excellent modern hotel with very helpful staff and in a great location close to the Rotunda tram station.

What could be improved: For such a new modern hotel you would expect a car park – but the nearby park and ride scheme worked well for us.

  • Recommended for a business stay ! – Jim from France – 19 June 2025 (8/10)

The staff were very welcoming, my room was clean, modern and with a nice view and I also goy upgraded which was very cool. There’s a bus stop near by to connect you to the city.

What could be improved: The breakfast lacked some items and I wanted some snacks at night to buy but they were out of stuck :/

  • New and refreshing design – Mick from United Kingdom – 17 June 2025 (8/10)

Refreshing decor, comfortable and clean. Good size shower room. Air conditioning worked well.

What could be improved: Breakfast had limited choice, poor fruit salad, coffee machine problems and was poor value. Cups in room for tea and coffee were PAPER. That doesn't work!

  • My stay at Hotel Origami was pleasant, relaxing and unforgettable – Mulindwa from Uganda – 14 June 2025 (10/10)

I took my breakfast at my meeting venue.

What could be improved: I had no complaints about the hotel whatsoever.

  • Exceptional – Dolev from Germany – 14 June 2025 (10/10)

Great location, really clean, kind staff

  • Good – Taj from Morocco – 9 June 2025 (9/10)

    Cleanliness and the staff

What could be improved: The price of the breakfast is incorrect, and I noticed that it’s not the right breakfast.
