Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Hotel Les Haras? The fact that it’s actually built in these gorgeous converted 18th-century royal stables – I mean, you can still see some of the original stonework when you walk through the lobby. It’s tucked away on Rue des Glacières, which honestly is perfect because you’re close enough to walk to Petite France in about fifteen minutes, but far enough from the tourist crowds that you can actually sleep at night. The whole area has this quiet, residential feel that most visitors never discover – lots of locals heading to the little bakery around the corner in the morning, that sort of authentic Strasbourg vibe you’re probably hoping to find.

The rooms themselves are really well done, though I’ll be honest, some of the standard ones can feel a bit snug if you’re traveling with a lot of luggage. But the design is spot-on – they’ve managed to blend that historic architecture with modern comfort without making it feel like a theme park. The beds are actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how many boutique hotels mess this up), and the bathrooms have proper water pressure, which matters more than you think after a long day walking around the cathedral district. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even on weekends when the city center can get pretty lively. The courtyard setting helps with that – you’re sort of insulated from street noise without feeling disconnected from the city.

Here’s what really sets it apart though: the staff genuinely knows Strasbourg. Not just the obvious tourist spots, but they’ll point you toward that little winstub where locals actually eat, or tell you the best time to hit the Christmas market when it’s not completely mobbed. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this neighborhood – there’s not much street parking, but they can sort out garage spots nearby if you’re driving. Check-in was smooth, none of that “your room isn’t ready until exactly 3 PM” nonsense. And honestly, at an 8.9 rating, it’s one of those places that’s really hitting its stride. You can tell they’ve worked out the kinks that newer boutique hotels sometimes have. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but if you want somewhere with character that actually feels connected to Strasbourg rather than just dropped into it, this is your spot.

Reviews

  • Beautiful property. Great place to stay in Strasbourg! – Darla from United States – 25 July 2025 (10/10)

Great location, a short walk to the center of the old town. Very private with a pleasant courtyard. The breakfast is excellent and the spa is terrific.

What could be improved: Nothing. Staff is a little aloof. They were very nice, but they do not greet you as you arrive or come and go. That applies to the front desk, the bar, the spa and the breakfast room. You need to approach them to be acknowledged, but once you do, they are pleasant and helpful.

  • Superb – Steven from United States – 20 July 2025 (9/10)

The staff were great and accommodating (let us check in early). The room was excellent (comfortable bed, plenty of room). The outdoor seating with drinks from the bar was a wonderful way to relax, so I would highly recommend doing that. The cocktails were also quite tasty.

What could be improved: If you are walking from the train station, it is about 15-20 mins walk with luggage. Totally worth it, but be prepared for that.

  • Exceptional – Suzanne from Germany – 7 July 2025 (10/10)

    Super personnel

What could be improved: Would like more transparency about where the rooms are: in the new or old building

  • Very good – Marc from United States – 4 July 2025 (8/10)

    Great location. Close to everything.

What could be improved: Probably mostly my fault, but I didn't know what I was getting with my reservation. Apparently spa time was included for all three of us. But we weren't aware we had to make a reservation and by the time we did, it was too late. Would have loved to have the option to make a reservation for the spa at the front desk when checking in. Again, I probably should have done more research. But a reminder would have been awesome.

  • Very nice and expensive experience – Ahmad from Kuwait – 27 June 2025 (10/10)

The room was lovely and spacious, and the AC was cold. Breakfast was a buffet, but you can order from the kitchen to.

What could be improved: It was too expensive and the parking was not free

  • Wonderful! – Fanget from United States – 13 June 2025 (10/10)

Les Haras is just an amazing hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and beautifully appointed. Breakfast is excellent and the brasserie is fantastic for a drink, lunch or dinner.
