Hôtel Gutenberg Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Hôtel Gutenberg feels like discovering one of those perfectly kept secrets that locals don’t really want to share. This four-star gem sits right on Rue des Serruriers in the heart of Strasbourg, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better — you’re literally steps away from the cathedral and all those winding cobblestone streets that make this city so magical. The building itself has that classic Alsatian charm, but inside it’s been updated with all the modern touches you actually want.
Location & Neighborhood
I mean, when couples rate the location 9.8 out of 10, you know something’s working. You can walk to Petite France in about ten minutes, and the Christmas markets (if you’re lucky enough to visit in December) are practically on your doorstep. What I love is that you’re in the thick of things but on a quieter street — so you get the energy of the old town without the constant tourist foot traffic right outside your window. The tram stops are close by too, which makes getting around the city really easy.
The Room Experience
The rooms here are what I’d call thoughtfully designed — not huge, but everything has its place and the beds are genuinely comfortable. Actually, guests consistently rave about how well they sleep here, and after staying a few nights, I get it. The mattresses hit that sweet spot between firm and soft, and the pillows don’t leave you with a crick in your neck. Each room has its own personality too — some overlook the street with those tall French windows, others face the quieter courtyard. The bathrooms are compact but well-appointed, with good water pressure (always a relief when you’re traveling).
Breakfast & Dining
Breakfast is served buffet-style and it’s actually quite good — they’ve got the continental basics covered, plus they’re smart about offering gluten-free options without making a big fuss about it. The croissants are flaky, the coffee is strong, and there’s local honey that’s worth trying. You won’t find a full restaurant on-site, but honestly, with Strasbourg’s incredible food scene right outside, that’s not really a problem. The staff can point you toward some excellent winstubs nearby — those traditional Alsatian taverns that serve the kind of hearty, wine-paired meals this region is famous for.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back is the combination of that unbeatable location and the genuine warmth of the staff. They seem to actually care about making your stay work, whether that’s storing luggage before check-in or helping you figure out the best route to wherever you’re headed next. The hotel manages to feel both professional and personal — you’re not just another booking number, you know? Plus, there’s something satisfying about staying somewhere that locals respect rather than just another tourist trap. For the price point and the location, it’s honestly hard to find better value in Strasbourg.
Apartments in Strasbourg provide travelers with an authentic local experience, allowing them to shop at traditional markets and cook with fresh ingredients from the renowned Alsatian culinary traditions.

Amazing location, extremely friendly and welcoming staff, great value for the money and we even got a free upgrade. Rooms are simple but have everything you need. We found the beds very comfortable, but a bit short for me (1.86cm). We would definitely come back again!

A beautiful stay in the hearth of Strasbourg – Gianmarco from Italy – 22 June 2025 (9/10)
A well curated hotel steps away from the main square of Strasbourg, everything is within walking distance. The room was nice and modern although the AC unit was a bit noisy especially during the night. The view from the window was very nice.
What could be improved: No on-site parking available but there are many 24h parking places within 10mins by footGreat hotel in perfect location. – Trudi from United Kingdom – 22 June 2025 (10/10)
We stayed 3 nights here. It is in a perfect location, 15 mins walk from the station, close to tram stop, very near the cathedral and a short walk to Petite France. We upgraded to a Deluxe room which was light and spacious with windows overlooking the street. Great soundproofing and a wonderful large shower. The breakfast was included in our stay and had a huge variety – pastries, cold meats, cheese, eggs, jams, cereals, breads and of course a selection of teas and coffee. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.
What could be improved: Nothing.
