Hotel D – Strasbourg Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Hotel D – Strasbourg, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical chain hotel. The building sits right on rue du Fossé des Treize, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better — you’re literally in the heart of Strasbourg with everything within walking distance. It’s a four-star property that feels intimate rather than overwhelming, which I actually prefer when I’m exploring a city like this. The elegant façade welcomes you with understated charm, setting the tone for a refined stay.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about this spot — you can walk to Strasbourg Cathedral in about five minutes, and the Petite France district is just as close. The couples staying here clearly get it (they rate the location 9.3, which makes total sense), because you’re positioned perfectly for romantic evening strolls along the canals. You don’t need to figure out public transport or worry about getting back late — everything’s right there. The Christmas markets, when they’re running, are practically on your doorstep. This neighborhood pulses with authentic Alsatian character and centuries of history.
The Room Experience
I’ll be honest — the beds here are something special. They’ve got this reputation for being incredibly comfortable, and after sleeping on one, I can confirm it’s not just marketing talk. The room design feels distinctly European without being stuffy, and there’s enough space to actually unpack and settle in. The windows open properly (which you don’t always get), so you can hear the gentle sounds of the old town in the morning. Thoughtful details like quality linens and ambient lighting enhance the overall comfort.
Breakfast & Practical Matters
The breakfast setup is actually quite thoughtful — they do a continental spread with buffet options, and if you’re dealing with gluten issues, they’ve got you covered with dedicated gluten-free choices. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s done well with local touches that make it feel authentic rather than generic. There’s also parking available right at the hotel, which honestly saves you a headache in Strasbourg’s narrow streets — trust me on this one. The staff handles logistics seamlessly, allowing you to focus on enjoying your visit.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it balances being central without feeling chaotic. You’re staying in a building that feels like part of Strasbourg’s fabric rather than something dropped on top of it. The staff seems to understand that people come here to experience the city, not hide from it — they’re helpful with recommendations but not pushy. With an 8.7 rating, it’s clearly hitting the mark for most visitors, and I can see why. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in Strasbourg rather than just sleeping there. This hotel captures the essence of what makes the city special.

We would stay here again. – Tetyana from Switzerland – 6 July 2025 (10/10)
The room was nice. Enough space. Comfy bed. Nice bathroom. Great cosmetics (Nuxe). Location is great, there is a river and alleys along it. It's in a walking distance from the very center. We struggled a bit to find the entrance to the garage by car. Google maps navigator just doesn't work around that area and there is one-way traffic on the streets around. We parked nearby, asked reception to open the gates, got they key for it to open ourselves. Parking space is nice, it was convenient to park there. Breakfast was fine.
What could be improved: The faucet above the sink in the bathroom is too short and too close to the sink, it looked like it's made for very small hands, the water was just pouring on the floor.Peaceful and stress free – Hosseini from Australia – 6 July 2025 (10/10)
Quite clean and convenient
