Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of Strasbourg hotels, and Hotel D genuinely surprised me – in the best way possible. It’s tucked right on rue du Fossé des Treize, which honestly sounds more dramatic than it is, but you’re basically in the heart of everything without being on one of those tourist-trap streets where you can’t sleep past 7 AM. The building itself has that classic Alsatian thing going on, you know, where it looks historic but doesn’t feel like you’re sleeping in a museum.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between boutique charm and actual functionality. The rooms – well, mine faced the inner courtyard, so it was dead quiet at night, which was perfect after spending days wandering around the cathedral area. The beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living in a shoebox. I mean, it’s not huge, but it’s thoughtfully laid out. The bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually works properly, not like some places where it’s more of a light mist situation.

Here’s what I really appreciated though – the staff genuinely knows Strasbourg. When I asked about getting to Petite France early in the morning to avoid crowds, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward the obvious route. He told me about this little path along the canal that cuts through where the locals walk their dogs, and honestly, it became my favorite part of the day. That kind of local insight is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to experience a city, not just check boxes on a tourist list. The location is pretty perfect too – you can walk to the cathedral in maybe eight minutes, but you’re far enough from the main drag that you don’t have to deal with the evening crowds stumbling back from the winstubs. Plus there’s actually decent parking nearby if you’re driving, which in Strasbourg city center is basically a minor miracle. I’d definitely go back, and for a 4-star place with an 8.7 rating, it actually lives up to the hype without feeling pretentious about it.

  The room was nice. Enough space. Comfy bed. Nice bathroom. Great cosmetics (Nuxe). Location is great, there is a river and alleys along it. It's in a walking distance from the very center. We struggled a bit to find the entrance to the garage by car. Google maps navigator just doesn't work around that area and there is one-way traffic on the streets around. We parked nearby, asked reception to open the gates, got they key for it to open ourselves. Parking space is nice, it was convenient to park there. Breakfast was fine.
  
  What could be improved: The faucet above the sink in the bathroom is too short and too close to the sink, it looked like it's made for very small hands, the water was just pouring on the floor.
