Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about HANNONG? I honestly expected another cookie-cutter business hotel when I first walked up to rue du 22 Novembre, but this place actually has some soul to it. The building itself sits on this quiet street that’s maybe a seven-minute walk from Place Kléber – close enough that you’re not hauling luggage forever, but far enough that you’re not dealing with all the tourist chaos right outside your window.

The whole wine bar concept isn’t just marketing fluff either. I mean, they really lean into it – the lobby has this warm, almost residential feel with wine displays that actually look curated rather than slapped together. The staff behind the front desk clearly knows their stuff about local Alsatian wines, which makes sense since you’re literally in the heart of wine country here. What I appreciated was how they handled the whole wine bar atmosphere without making it feel stuffy or pretentious. The evening crowd tends to be a mix of business travelers and locals, which is always a good sign. Actually, hearing French conversations mixed with German and English around the bar area reminded me why Strasbourg feels so uniquely positioned – you’re getting that true European crossroads vibe.

The rooms are solidly appointed without being flashy – think clean lines, decent space (especially for European standards), and those little touches that show someone was actually thinking about guest experience. The beds are legitimately comfortable, and I slept well despite being right in the city center. Honestly, the soundproofing is better than you’d expect. I was worried about street noise, but even with the windows cracked for fresh air, it stayed pretty quiet through the night. The bathrooms are modern and well-lit, though not huge – but that’s pretty standard for historic European buildings. What really worked for me was the overall flow of the space. Nothing felt cramped or awkwardly designed.

Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned to explore both the Grande Île and venture into Petite France without needing transit. The cathedral is maybe a twelve-minute walk, and you can easily wander over to the European Quarter if that’s your thing. There’s a decent parking situation nearby too, which – let’s be honest – can be a nightmare in Strasbourg’s old town. The neighborhood has that lived-in feel where you’ll find actual boulangeries and local spots mixed in with the touristy stuff.

Look, this isn’t going to blow your mind or become some Instagram-worthy luxury experience, but it’s exactly what a solid four-star should be. The wine focus gives it personality, the location puts you where you want to be, and the execution feels thoughtful rather than rushed. If you’re the type who wants to experience Strasbourg without feeling like you’re staying in some corporate bubble, HANNONG strikes that balance pretty well.

Strasbourg hotels range from charming boutique properties in the historic Petite France district to elegant converted mansions and modern accommodations near the European Parliament.

Reviews

  • Perfect place for a short Cory – Helene from United Kingdom – 25 July 2025 (8/10)

Very enthusiastic and helpful staff, neat bedroom and good breakfast choice

What could be improved: Nothing for this type of establishment and prices.

  • Nice hotel – Gavin from United Kingdom – 30 June 2025 (10/10)

Room is small (the bathroom especially) but modern and clean, good use of space and for me perfectly comfortable for one night. Nice hotel generally.

What could be improved: Bathroom was very small – fine for wiry built folk but a larger person may want to consider a standard room with more space.

  • Stay overnight for shopping and amazing restaurants – Stefan from Germany – 21 June 2025 (10/10)

The location is perfect, right within the center of strasbourg old town and close to P+R train station (<5 Min walk).
It is easy to park at P+R. and commute in, parking and train is one cheap ticket and you avoid the hassle of small narrow roads with a confusing layout of one way streets.

What could be improved: There is nothin to not like

  • Our room was very good. Chosen well. Located well within hotel. Extremely comfortable and restful. Front desk staff wer – David from Australia – 19 June 2025 (10/10)

Hotel has loads of charm and individuality. In a very good location to explore by foot.

What could be improved: Our arrival. Our greeting at reception was marred by the arrival of some bus of guests on tour. Very loud. Very crowded which was unfortunate. It didn’t seem like the kind of hotel booked out by coach tour.

  • Great hotel in a superb location – Stuart from United Kingdom – 19 June 2025 (9/10)

Great location, very clean and comfortable. Staff were superb

What could be improved: For a 4* hotel I’d expect a coffee machine in the room rather than a kettle with instant. We were there 2 nights and unable to access the roof top bar which was a pity

  • Great hotel design by Sophie Traeuber-Arp. We will definitely stay here again. – Matthew from Germany – 17 June 2025 (10/10)

There was a lovely young woman at the reception desk for both days of our stay who was fantastic—kind, helpful, courteous and professional. Give her a raise! We appreciated that the hotel loaned umbrellas. The service at breakfast was also exemplary. The staff were all attentive and friendly.

  • Close to city center – Agnes from United States – 16 June 2025 (9/10)

    The staff and the location

What could be improved: The air conditioning is very noisy

  • Perfect stay – Stacy from United States – 15 June 2025 (10/10)

Location!!!, super friendly staff, great hair dryer and products

  • A fantastic hotel with a superb team who was very friendly and helpful – Susanne from Egypt – 14 June 2025 (10/10)

Wonderful Hotel. We stayed in the sixth floor and the room was very spacious and comfortable

What could be improved: Check in was at 3:00pm and it would be great if it can be earlier

  • Exceptional – Cătălin from Netherlands – 6 June 2025 (10/10)

The staff were exceptional, the food was great.

What could be improved: The parking is a public one, and not on site.
