Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Hallesgare 1? The name actually tells you everything you need to know – it’s right there on Rue Moll, and yes, the parking really is free, which honestly feels like finding a unicorn in Strasbourg. I mean, we’re talking about a city where parking can cost you more than your morning coffee and croissant combined.

The location is sort of perfect if you know Strasbourg at all. Rue Moll puts you in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to the cathedral (maybe 15 minutes if you don’t get distracted by all the half-timbered houses), but you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos right in the center. There’s this lovely residential vibe around there – you’ll hear actual French conversations from your window instead of groups of tourists trying to figure out their maps. The Ill River is practically around the corner, and if you’re into that whole UNESCO World Heritage thing, you’re basically living in it without paying those insane city center prices.

What I really appreciated was how the place actually feels like a proper 4-star without trying too hard. The rooms have that clean, modern European hotel thing going on – nothing fancy, but everything works the way it should. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms have decent water pressure, which you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case in historic city centers. The 7.9 rating makes sense to me – it’s solidly good without being perfect, and honestly, perfect usually means you’re paying twice as much for marble countertops you don’t really need.

Here’s the thing though – and this is where that local knowledge comes in handy – you’re close enough to catch the tram into the absolute heart of things, but far enough away that you can actually get some sleep. The Petite France area gets pretty lively (especially during summer), but from Rue Moll, you get the quiet residential streets at night. Plus, and I cannot stress this enough, free parking in Strasbourg is like striking gold. Most hotels either don’t have it or charge you 15-20 euros a day for the privilege of not walking half a mile with your luggage.

The staff seemed to actually know the city well – not just the obvious tourist spots, but where to grab a proper Alsatian meal without the tourist markup, which bus lines actually run on time, that sort of thing. Check-in was straightforward, no drama, and they didn’t try to upsell me on breakfast that I could get better and cheaper at the boulangerie down the street.

Look, it’s not going to change your life or anything, but if you want a solid base for exploring Strasbourg without the headaches of city center logistics, this place gets it right. The free parking alone probably saves you enough to upgrade your dinner plans, and sometimes that’s exactly what makes a trip memorable.

Reviews

  • Beautiful accommodations. – Tenna from United States – 15 December 2024 (9/10)

Lovely accommodations. Everything was clean and updated. It was nice having a washer to freshen up clothes.

What could be improved: – The Wi-Fi was down. I messaged the property. They sent someone out to check the next day. Said they were unable to fix it at that time. We had no Internet for our three nights stay.
    – I slept on the sofa bed, which wasn’t too uncomfortable. However, there’s a very cold breeze that streams in through the windows near the sofa bed that ended up giving me a cold for my entire vacation. I read about this problem on a previous review, but didn’t know it was as bad as it was. This window problem really needs to be fixed. My friend slept in the bedroom, which was very comfortable.

  • Superb – Evgenia from Bulgaria – 15 March 2024 (9/10)

Perfect transport communication for my purpose of visit. Walking distance from the center.

  • Good to stay, better provide heater for winter stay – Suk from Singapore – 20 December 2023 (8/10)

Location is good. Near to train station and convenience to Strasbourg island

What could be improved: Floor heat is auto stop. Can’t control at all. Room is so cold and until property arrangement another day come and bought traditional heater.

  • Nice and comfortable place in Strasbourg – Alejandra from Italy – 16 November 2023 (9/10)

The location was great, near the centre and train station. The place was clean and comfortable. I really enjoyed my stay in Strasbourg. The kitchen and bathroom had all the facilities, and I felt at home. It's a really nice place, just like the pictures.

What could be improved: It was difficult to enter the building since the key was inside it in a lock-key. I had to wait for someone to open the principal door, and once I was inside I could take the key with a password.

  • Very good – Gürkan from Turkey – 17 September 2024 (8/10)

    The location was good

What could be improved: there was a heating problem, the central system was not working yet. The living room sound insulation is bad. It is very difficult to enter and exit the parking lot. It is a very narrow closed area.

  • Wonderful visit to Strasbourg and the Christmas Market. – Susan from France – 1 December 2022 (9/10)

This flat was perfect, clean, modern decor – very well situated to visit
the centre of Strasbourg. No noise, close to shops and restaurants, very close to the railway station and trams.
Everything we needed was in the flat.

What could be improved: Small details – we couldn't figure out how to use the microwave so instructions would be handy. There is a draught in the living room coming from the windows. Check out at 10am is a bit early.

  • Overall, a very pleasant stay — would definitely recommend! – Ana from North Macedonia – 10 April 2025 (10/10)

We had a great stay! The apartment is very close to the center and quite spacious, which was perfect for our family. It had everything we needed — a baby crib, always hot water, strong WiFi, and a super comfy bed. The TV had plenty of programs to choose from, and we appreciated the little touches like soap, shower gel, dishwasher tablets, and laundry detergent.

What could be improved: Just a couple of small things to note: a place to hang jackets would be nice, and the living room can get a bit drafty when it’s windy outside, so it wasn’t always comfortable to sit there. Also, the parking space is only suitable for a very small car, so keep that in mind if you're driving.

  • We do not recommend!!! – Yuliia from Ukraine – 30 March 2025 (2/10)

What could be improved: Poor communication and service, very disappointed to have chosen this apartment and agency.
Dirty room, dirty bed linen, cold!
Very small parking space, our car did not fit, no one informed us about this

  • Complicado para entrar y salir – Susana from Argentina – 7 July 2025 (8/10)

– Walter from Austria – 11 December 2024 (8/10)

    Gute Lage, Ausstattung

What could be improved: Garage kann man mit größerem Auto leider nicht benutzen. Die Matratze könnte etwas besser sein.
