You know what struck me first about Hallebardes Cathédrale? The name actually makes perfect sense once you’re standing there on Rue des Hallebardes – you’re literally a two-minute walk from Strasbourg Cathedral, and I mean you can practically hear the bells from your room if you’re facing the right direction. It’s one of those narrow cobblestone streets in the old town where you feel like you’ve stepped back a few centuries, except your phone still gets great signal and there’s a decent café right around the corner.

The hotel itself is solidly three-star – honestly, that 8.4 rating feels about right because they’re not trying to be something they’re not, but they do the fundamentals really well. The rooms are clean and comfortable without being fancy, and the staff actually seems to know the city instead of just handing you generic tourist maps. I appreciated that they warned me about the Saturday morning market noise (which, let’s be real, is kind of charming anyway) and suggested the best times to visit the cathedral when it’s not absolutely packed with tour groups. The building has that Alsatian character you’d expect – you know, those timber-framed details and narrow hallways that remind you this place has been around for a while.

What I really liked was the practical stuff they got right. Check-in was smooth, the Wi-Fi actually worked throughout the building, and they have a small breakfast room where you can fuel up before wandering around. The location is honestly hard to beat if you want to explore Strasbourg on foot – Petite France is maybe a ten-minute walk, and you’re right in the heart of all those winding streets with the half-timbered houses and little shops selling Alsatian wine. Parking can be a bit of a headache (welcome to European old towns), but they’ll point you toward the nearest garage, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t need your car anyway. The evening vibe on that street is pretty lovely too – not too touristy, not too quiet, just right for grabbing dinner at one of the nearby winstubs and then wandering back with a full belly and maybe a slight wine buzz from the local Riesling.

To book a hotel in Strasbourg during the famous Christmas Market season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts holiday enthusiasts and culture lovers from around the world.

  We had a great stay at this apartment. The beds were super comfortable — both the main bed and the sofa bed. The apartment was exactly as described and shown in the photos: modern, clean, and new as of June 2025. The shower had excellent water pressure, and the layout was very practical, with the toilet being separate from the shower — especially convenient for a group of 3 people.
  
  We experienced a warm day during our stay, but the building stayed pleasantly cool even without air conditioning. The location is unbeatable — just around the corner from the Strasbourg Notre-Dame Cathedral, right in the heart of the city.
  
  Overall, it was a wonderful stay and we’d happily come back!
  
  What could be improved: That said, being in the city center means it can get quite noisy at night, particularly on Friday and Saturday. If you're visiting in summer and need to sleep with the windows open, be prepared for some street noise — which is quite typical for apartments in central France that don't have A/C. I’d recommend bringing earplugs or noise-canceling headphones if you're a light sleeper.

  Très bien situé dans le centre historique. Plusieurs sites d’intérêt, de restos et de petits magasins. Grande appartement avec très bonne literie. Lit très confortable. Frigo et cuisine très bien équipé.
  
  What could be improved: Il n’y a aucune.climatisation dans l’apartment et il faisait très chaud. Les ventilateurs mentionnés sur le site web étaient absents. Nous avons dû insister pour finalement avoir 2 ventilateurs après 2 nuits. Les ventilateurs auraient dû être présents dès notre première nuit. L’agence qui gère la location envoie un nombre important de messages et de procédures pour l’appartement qui deviennent lourde. Retour plus ou moins rapide à nos demandes. De plus, l’égout refoulaient dans le drain de la douche la veille et le jour de notre départ.

  Super zentrale Lage um die Ecke zur Kathedrale. Check-in, Schlüsselübergabe etc. sehr gut beschrieben. Wohnung sehr sauber und gut ausgestattet.

  What could be improved: Der Lärm von der Straße, die Wohnung befindet sich an einer der meist besuchten Ecken in Straßburg. Besucherströme schieben sich bis spät in die Nacht direkt an der Wohnung vorbei. Nachts konnte ich nur mit Ohropax schlafen.

  Die zentrale Lage ist perfekt. Die Wohnung ist neu, sauber und sehr gut ausgestattet. Die Kommunikation mit der Verwaltung war ausgezeichnet. Ich würde jedem die Wohnung für Straßburg empfehlen

  A localização é excelente! A casa está super bonita, tal como mostram as fotografias.
  
  What could be improved: Recebemos mil emails repetidos, é pedida uma caução (que até entendo), mas depois as chaves estão num sítio não indicado previamente (mesmo com tanta informação enviada), a casa cheirava mal quando chegamos ao ponto de termos de abrir as janelas para arejar, não tínhamos berço para a nossa bebé e a cama de casal são na verdades duas camas juntas, o chão estava claramente sujo porque a minha bebé ao gatinhar ficou sempre com os joelhos, pés e mãos pretos. Mas, o que acho mais indecente é o aviso final que recebemos e que deixo aqui porque é absolutamente surreal:

  Ou sejaaaa, o preço já de si não é barato. A localização é óptima, certo. Mas, não sendo um hotel não temos como deixar a nossa bagagem antes ou depois da hora de check-in, nem pequeno-almoço incluído … mas pagamos caro e ainda temos de deixar o apartamento impecável senão precisamos de pagar uma limpeza adicional. Lavamos a loiça do pequeno-almoço, mas deixamos a secar. Não levei o lixo porque saímos às 2h da manhã para ir apanhar o avião e obviamente não arrumei o apartamento – a cama ficou por fazer. Nunca tinha visto tal coisa. Acho que o bom senso é obviamente essencial, mas isto vai para um nível de abuso e desresponsabilização de um serviço que é bem cobrado e de uma entrega muito mediocre em termos de experiência e garantia de qualidade e conforto.
