Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Grand Studio – Le National, I wasn’t expecting much from the street view. Rue du Faubourg-National isn’t exactly the postcard-pretty part of Strasbourg, but you know what? That actually turned out to be one of its best features. You’re literally a ten-minute walk from Place Kléber and all the tourist chaos, but staying in this slightly grittier neighborhood means you get to see how Strasbourg actually works – there’s a proper boulangerie next door where locals queue up for their morning bread, and the evening light hits these old Alsatian buildings in this gorgeous way that nobody talks about.

The studio itself surprised me. I mean, it’s not huge (we’re talking European city living here), but whoever designed this space actually thought about how people use hotel rooms. The bed sits at just the right angle so you can watch TV without getting a crick in your neck, and there’s this little kitchenette setup that’s actually functional – not just decorative like so many places. The bathroom’s compact but well done, with one of those rainfall showers that actually has decent pressure. What really got me was the attention to small details: proper blackout curtains (essential if you’re jet-lagged), USB outlets where you’d actually want them, and – this might sound weird – but the door closes with this satisfying weight that just makes you feel secure.

The neighborhood comes alive in the evenings, which I loved. You’ll hear some street noise, sure, but it’s that good kind of urban energy rather than anything disruptive. There’s this little Moroccan place called Le Petit Marrakech about three blocks down that serves incredible tagines until late, and if you walk toward the river in the morning, you’ll hit this weekend market that most tourists never find. Parking’s actually doable on the side streets if you’re driving – way easier than trying to navigate the old town. The 8.9 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here; it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything just works really well. Honestly, for the price point and location, you’re getting a lot more character and practical comfort than those generic chain places near the cathedral, and you’ll probably end up discovering parts of Strasbourg that feel more authentic anyway.

  • Lovely stay – Jacqueline from United States – 16 June 2025 (10/10)

The host was exceptional! Prior to arrival, I was sent a comprehensive digital guide to print with all the necessary information about the apartment, along with information about the sites in the area and suggestions for restaurants, etc. I was able to check in an hour early, which was very much appreciated. The apartment was clean and had everything I needed. The location was excellent and my husband and I enjoyed our stay tremendously.
