Hotel Description

Honestly, when I first walked into Grand Studio – Le Kléber, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in the heart of Strasbourg. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in modest packages. This little gem sits right on Rue de la Toussaint, which — if you’re not familiar with Strasbourg — puts you literally a stone’s throw from Place Kléber. I mean, you can practically hear the Christmas market hustle during December (though that means crowds, obviously).

The studio setup actually works brilliantly here. It’s not trying to be some grand palace, but everything feels thoughtfully arranged. The space has this clean, unfussy vibe that lets you focus on why you’re really here — exploring one of France’s most underrated cities. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays despite being so central. You’d think being this close to the main shopping area would mean constant noise, but the building seems to buffer most of it. Well, except for the trams — but honestly, after a day or two, that gentle rumble becomes kind of comforting.

The location is where this place really shines, though I hate using that phrase because everyone says it. But seriously — you’re maybe a 3-minute walk to the cathedral (which, trust me, never gets old), and you can easily wander down to Petite France for those postcard-worthy canal shots. The Galeries Lafayette is right there if you need anything, and there’s this little bakery around the corner on Rue des Francs-Bourgeois that does these incredible kouglof pastries. The staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood too, not just the tourist spots — they pointed me toward a wine bar that locals frequent, which was refreshing.

I’ll be straight with you — it’s not luxury. The bathroom’s compact, and if you’re someone who needs tons of space to spread out, this might feel snug. But the 8.6 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price point. Everything worked properly (huge pet peeve of mine when things don’t), the wifi was solid, and check-in was surprisingly smooth even though I arrived during that chaotic afternoon rush when everyone’s trying to get settled.

What really sold me was stepping out in the morning and being immediately in the rhythm of actual Strasbourg life. You’re not in some sterile hotel district — you’re where people live and work and grab their morning coffee. The European Parliament is close enough for business travelers, but you’re also perfectly positioned for those long, meandering walks through the old town that make Strasbourg so addictive. Plus, if you’re doing day trips to the Alsace wine route, getting out of the city center is pretty straightforward from here.

I liked that the apartment was well-equipped even including a stove and washing machine. The location is very close to the city centre.

What could be improved: It was quite a bit to walk to the conference site, although it was close to the city centre.

  • Best price with excellent location – Rungrassami from France – 19 December 2022 (8/10)

Excellent location, very close to the city center and close to the mall. Also very convenient to go to the train station by walk. The room is clean and in good condition.

What could be improved: No (proper) toilet papers provided
    The pillow is too low

  • fantastic! – Erik from Germany – 7 November 2022 (10/10)

The apartment is very well located, 600 m to the main station, 700 to the centre, enought possibilities to get some food. You get a flyer with recommendations for dinner, party, breakfast, sightseeing…everything and believe me the places are fantastic. It was very, very clean and I got everything I expected or haven´t expected. I was very glad to find this jewel.

    What could be improved: nothing

  • Highly Recommend – Mark1155 from Canada – 21 June 2024 (9/10)

A Petite rather than Grand studio on a very quiet street steps away from all attractions 10-15 min walk tops. 10 min walk or one tram stop from the Gare. Looks like the studio was renovated recently. Modern features, furniture, appliances, washroom. Excellent bed. The building itself is very quiet considering a half dozen of (small) apartments per floor. We kept the windows opened and slept well -ear plugs). Perks – basic condiments, tea, and three coffee capsules small size if you’d like to bring your own capsules, no water though. A 24 hr tram/bus pass is recommended if you’re planning to use public transportation.

What could be improved: The apartment is on the second floor with two steep flights of stairs going up – ok for middle age travellers. The corridors do not look appealing but all good inside the apartment. No AC. The street is one way accessible from Faubourg de Pierre, the major street opposite to Sebastopol. Take a right turn practically 10-20m right before Quai Klebèr to Toussaint (apartment street) and drive along towards Sebastopol until you reach #5 across the Government or College office. A map would be helpful. You can stop to unload luggage briefly at own risk – most people do.

  • Good location – Gary from Australia – 9 May 2024 (9/10)

Studio is a good size, and is in a great location for the centre of the city, also very close to shopping for food supplies.

What could be improved: The biggest downside is the stairs, 2 levels with very narrow turn at top is not great when carrying suitcases. Also only 1 tea and 2 coffee pods for 3 days, very poor.

  • Very good – Antoanetayk from Bulgaria – 11 March 2024 (8/10)

I love the studio, it is very clean and modern with great location

What could be improved: Not a single drop of soap was left in the bathroom or the kitchen. Nothing to wash your dishes with.

  • Superb – Antoanetayk from Bulgaria – 27 November 2023 (9/10)

Very modern, clean and well maintained property at a great location. Comfortable even for longer stay.
