Hotel Description
So I stumbled across this place on rue du vieux marchés aux vins – and honestly, the street name should give you a hint about what you’re getting into. This is proper old Strasbourg, the kind of cobblestone neighborhood where you’ll hear a mix of French and Alsatian German floating from café terraces. The Grand appartement sits right in the thick of it, which means you’re literally a two-minute walk from some of the city’s best wine bars (I mean, you’re on the old wine market street, after all).
The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious for what you’d expect in this part of town. It’s got that classic Alsatian building feel – thick walls, decent-sized windows, and you know what? The soundproofing is actually pretty good considering you’re in the heart of everything. I was worried about noise from the street, but honestly, by 10 PM things quiet down to just the occasional late-night wanderer heading home from the Petite France area. The furnishing is comfortable without being fancy – think solid, practical pieces that actually make sense for travelers. The kitchen is properly equipped too, which matters if you want to grab fresh stuff from the Saturday market at Place du Marché aux Poissons (it’s maybe a five-minute walk).
What really sold me on this spot is the location – and I don’t mean that in the generic “convenient location” way everyone says. You’re genuinely positioned perfectly for exploring Strasbourg on foot. The cathedral is close enough that you’ll hear the bells (in a good way, not an annoying way), and you can cut through the old town streets to reach the European Quarter without dealing with trams or buses. Plus, there’s this little Alsatian restaurant called Au Pont Corbeau just around the corner that locals actually go to – not just tourists. The only minor thing is parking, which… well, it’s old town Strasbourg, so you’re better off using the Austerlitz tram park-and-ride if you’re driving in. The rating of 7.9 feels about right – it’s solid, comfortable, and the location really can’t be beat, but it’s not trying to be luxurious. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want though, especially when you’d rather spend your money on good Riesling and choucroute than fancy hotel amenities you won’t use anyway.

Reviews
Large apartment! Very good – Irene from Canada – 12 May 2024 (9/10)
The view from the river balcony is very nice. Walking distance to the city center is great with many restaurants and bars.
What could be improved: 3 story walk up is hard on older guests.Superb – Kim from Australia – 19 September 2024 (9/10)
Fantastic location, very spacious apartment.
What could be improved: There is no sink in the separate toilet, and only a hand-held shower in a bathtub in the bathroom. So far we were happy even we had to climb up and tried to do it once a day. – Poontrik from United Kingdom – 16 June 2024 (7/10)
Grand and good for the young ones. The stairs were hard for elderly people like us. There are only one toilet and one shower which in the utility room. We like the lounge which is grand. The keeper was very friendly and helpful. She has a lovely and kind girl to help us with everything. We are a group of over 65 and 75. The room is on the 3rd floor. It’s our mistake that didn’t read detail before. Thanks the girl who help us for these days.
What could be improved: I personally like the old building but in the old building, normally there are some fault to fix. It would be great if the landlord could fix them.In the heart of Strasbourg – Nina from Switzerland – 7 December 2023 (8/10)
Location is perfect
Large apartment.
The Host was very nice and helpful.
Nearest parking
What could be improved: No elevator.
We found heating only in one bedroom and living room.Very large appartment, great base to explore Strasbourg, everything was as described. – Stuart from United Kingdom – 12 August 2024 (10/10)
Very large, centrally located appartment.
Wonderful apartment. So close to everything. Wanted to stay longer – Leonie from Australia – 17 June 2024 (10/10)
Everything was lovely. The apartment was very large and had everything we needed. The host were amazing. There are 3 flights of stairs to get up and they helped with our bags. Such kind people. We arrived early and they aloud us check in. Would like to have stayed longer.
What could be improved: There is nothing that we did not like. Excellent apartmentAMAZING BIG apartment 5 min walk from train & super central location – Storme from Australia – 30 June 2025 (10/10)
The apartment is enormous, perfect for our family trip. The view from the living room over the canal was like a picture. Great kitchen were able to cook for the kids, nice big fridge & freezer. Our host was absolutely amazing too and made our stay all that much better.
What could be improved: There is no AC, however there isn’t many places with AC so pack light in summer. But we had fans which made the world of difference.Pleasant – Yann from France – 23 August 2024 (6/10)
Large apartment in the centre of Strasbourg
What could be improved: Only one bathroom and one toilet for such a large apartment is not enough. Cleanliness could be improved as well as the check-in (I had to call the landlord, nothing proactive on their side)Good location unfortunately not matched by accommodation – Claire from Australia – 25 April 2024 (4/10)
The location was great
What could be improved: No wifi, one set of keys for a group of 5, no ability to buzz others in at the main door, front door difficult to manage… simple things were dysfunctional such as a spoon for a door handle, doors that don’t close properly, curtains that don’t cover the windows, random items of clothes and personal effects in cupboards, no towel hooks/rails, no plug in the bath, no shower head holder, etc.Inexpensive city apartment, great location, but has some issues. – Karen from United States – 21 July 2024 (6/10)
Great location in Strasbourg in a historic building. Great price. Very spacious. Host was accommodating with our last minute delay that required a change in check-in time and key pick up.
What could be improved: Appeared to be a someone’s home as many of the cabinets and wardrobes had personal items in them, it made it feel a bit awkward being in there. Bathroom with sink and shower were not close to the toilet room. Bath towels weren’t left out for us, we had to poke around cabinets to find them. Bathroom had a washing machine and drying rack but the drying rack was full of sheets (assuming from cleaning crew that prepped the apartment for our stay). First bedroom had a door that only opened from one side and it used a spoon (yes, a spoon) as the handle as the knob was missing. Recently renovated kitchen was nice but the light switch was awkwardly placed behind the microwave. Apartment is on the 3rd floor, up 63 winding stairs. Common stairway was pretty dirty.
