The name actually delivers – it really is an “atypical escape” tucked away on Rue du Sanglier, which honestly sounds way more intimidating than it is (it just means “wild boar street,” in case you’re wondering). I mean, you’re literally two minutes from the cathedral – I timed it because I’m weird like that – but it feels completely removed from all the tourist chaos. The building itself has this quirky charm that’s hard to pin down; it’s like someone took a traditional Strasbourg townhouse and gave it a gentle, modern shake without losing its soul.

The location is actually brilliant if you know Strasbourg at all. Rue du Sanglier is one of those narrow cobblestone streets that tour groups tend to skip, but locals use as a shortcut between the cathedral quarter and the river. So you get the best of both worlds – you can stumble back from dinner in Petite France without dealing with crowds, but you’re also close enough to hear the cathedral bells (which, fair warning, do chime throughout the day if you’re a light sleeper). Parking’s tricky like everywhere in the old town, but there’s a decent garage about five minutes away, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t need your car much. The whole historic center is walkable, and the tram stops are close if you want to venture further out.

What really sells this place for me is how it manages to feel both intimate and polished – that 9.4 rating isn’t just tourist enthusiasm talking. The rooms have character without being fussy, and there’s this attention to detail that suggests someone actually cares about the guest experience rather than just maximizing bookings. I particularly loved how quiet it gets at night; those thick old walls really do their job, even though you’re right in the heart of everything. The morning light filtering through those traditional windows onto the old wooden floors – it’s the kind of thing that makes you want to linger over coffee instead of rushing out to tick off sightseeing boxes. And here’s the thing about three-star places in Strasbourg’s old town: they often have more personality than the fancy chain hotels, and this one definitely proves that point. It’s the sort of place where you feel like you’re staying in the real Strasbourg, not some sanitized tourist version of it.

  The location was spectacular! You cannot imagine somewhere more central. The apartment was really clean, spacey and well equipped. The communication was also good and we could reach the owner easily and received feedback quickly.
  
  What could be improved: If you stay that central, it’s normal to have some noice and we were ready for that. Unfortunately the bed was not comfortable and we had difficulties to sleep but overall we were happy about our stay and we highly recommended to stay there

  Location is brilliant. The unit is spacious and well laid out. The host seems to have anticipated all the traveller’s needs.
  
  What could be improved: Everything was as, or better than expected. The only issue that may be of concern is the steep and narrow staircase but the host made this clear at the outset, so there were no surprises.

  The flat is lovely and spotlessly clean, on a quiet street very close to the cathedral. The instructions to find the keys and access the building and flat were very clear. Tea, coffee and amenities for cooking were provided. A really cosy haven to come back to away from the bustle of the city.
  
  What could be improved: As others have noted, you do hear some street noise early in the morning, but I was fine with my earplugs. The wifi signal is a little weak in the bedroom but worked well in the rest of the flat. The stairs in the building are steep, so maybe not suitable for all guests.

  It was super clean, bright and cozy. The owners were responding quickly and helped us even in unpredictable situations. Very friendly and caring! Perfect for short stays (both couples and friends group).
  
  What could be improved: The location is brilliant for travelers, right in the city center with all what you need close by. But if you are a light sleeper it can be too loud in the morning as the Cathedral is a few minutes away.
