Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Hotel Daniele? It’s tucked away on this quiet little street – Rue Auguste Lamey – that most tourists probably walk right past on their way to the cathedral. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute stroll from all the Petite France madness, but somehow this spot feels like you’ve discovered something the guidebooks missed. The building itself has that classic Strasbourg thing going on, you know, where it looks properly French but with those Alsatian touches that remind you this city’s got serious German roots.
The staff actually seems to care, which honestly surprised me after some of the other places I’ve stayed in European city centers. Check-in was smooth – no weird deposit drama or confusing key card explanations. My room was on the third floor (there is an elevator, thank god), and I was half-expecting traffic noise since we’re still pretty central, but it was surprisingly quiet. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully put together – not trying too hard to be boutique-y, but definitely a step up from your standard business hotel. The bathroom was spotless, good water pressure, and they’d clearly renovated recently because everything felt fresh without that over-the-top modern sterile vibe.
What I really appreciated was how the place felt connected to the neighborhood. The front desk guy – I think his name was Philippe – gave me this hand-drawn map showing the best route to avoid tourist crowds when walking to the cathedral, plus he marked this little wine bar around the corner that serves proper Alsatian vintages. You can tell they get a lot of repeat guests because there’s this easy, familiar atmosphere in the lobby most evenings. I’d grab a coffee there in the mornings (decent espresso, by the way) and usually end up chatting with other travelers who seemed equally pleased they’d found the place. The location really is perfect if you want to feel like you’re staying somewhere locals might actually recommend – close enough to everything important, but far enough from the main drags that you’re not dealing with street performers under your window at midnight. Honestly, with that 8.9 rating, I was expecting maybe they were overselling it a bit, but after three nights there, I get why people keep coming back.

Wonderful city – Vivien from United Kingdom – 15 May 2024 (8/10)
Location. Instructions left on washing machine etc. All the machines one could wish for are there. Very quiet. Plenty of hangers
What could be improved: Lack of guidance on local facilities and on finding Wi-Fi password. I think this will be remedied. No salt other condiments. Barely enough washing up liquid. One or two posters would make it less drabExceptional – Pui from United Kingdom – 8 December 2023 (10/10)
C'est parfait! Host and the Madam helping to clean the house are very very kind. The location is great. I could get to most of the attraction very easily and even to Kehl in Germany.
House is very big and well-facilited.
I would definitely choose here again for my next Strasbourg trip.
