Cosy Cathédrale Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Cosy Cathédrale on Place de la Cathédrale, you honestly can’t miss it — and I mean that in the best way possible. This four-star boutique hotel sits right where all the action happens in Strasbourg, literally steps from the cathedral’s towering spires. The building itself has that classic Alsatian charm, but what really struck me was how they’ve managed to create something intimate and welcoming despite being in such a tourist-heavy spot. You know what I love? The name actually delivers on its promise — it really does feel cosy.
The Heart of Everything
I’ve stayed in plenty of places that claim to be “centrally located,” but this one actually earns that perfect 10.0 location score they boast about. You’re literally surrounded by half-timbered houses, cobblestone streets, and that incredible Gothic cathedral that dominates the skyline. What’s brilliant is that you can stumble out for morning coffee at the little cafés around the square, then wander through Petite France in the afternoon without needing any transport. The Christmas market (if you’re visiting in winter) is practically at your doorstep, and the tram connections to the European Quarter are just a few minutes’ walk away.
The Room Experience
My room was on the third floor with cathedral views — honestly, waking up to those medieval stones bathed in morning light never got old during my stay. The space felt thoughtfully designed rather than just decorated, with warm wood accents and comfortable bedding that actually made me want to linger over morning coffee. The bathroom was compact but well-planned, and I appreciated the little touches like quality toiletries and proper lighting around the mirror. Air conditioning worked perfectly during the summer heat, which isn’t always a given in these historic buildings.
Dining and Atmosphere
The breakfast setup impressed me more than I expected — they serve it in a charming ground-floor space that feels like a neighborhood café rather than a hotel dining restaurant. Fresh pastries, local cheeses, and proper coffee set you up nicely for exploring the city. What I really appreciated was the staff’s local knowledge; they pointed me toward some fantastic winstubs (those traditional Alsatian taverns) that I never would have found on my own. The evening atmosphere around the hotel is magical, especially when the cathedral is lit up and the square fills with that golden European light.
Why Guests Love It
This place works especially well for couples — there’s something undeniably romantic about the setting and the intimate scale of the hotel. You’re not dealing with tour groups crowding the lobby or fighting for elevator space, but you’re still right in the thick of everything Strasbourg has to offer. The combination of that perfect location, genuine hospitality, and reasonable rates for what you get makes it a solid choice. I mean, where else can you have cathedral bells as your wake-up call and be exploring one of Europe’s most beautiful old towns within minutes of leaving your room?

Reviews of Cosy Cathédrale
Ubicación excepcional y apartamento muy cuidado y completo – Arancha from Spain – 16 December 2024 (10/10)
Exceptional – Anna from Belgium – 29 April 2024 (10/10)
Tolles gemütliches Appartement mitten in der Innenstadt – Simone from Germany – 21 February 2024 (9/10)
Die Lage ist super!
bien en dépit de l’hôte très désagréable au téléphone – Elisabeth from France – 20 December 2023 (7/10)
Gentillesse du mari de l’hôte
What could be improved: L’hôte (madame) très désagréable et autoritaire. N’est pas faite pour ce métierSuperb – Andrea from Austria – 17 December 2023 (9/10)
Great location and good set of amenities – Nc from United States – 29 November 2023 (9/10)
Great location: right in front of the Cathedral, walking distance to Petite France and other landmarks, Tram stops, and even to the central station. Has all amenities you need. What a great last-minute find for the Christmas Market. The host met us in front of the flat and took us in; they are not on site but easy to communicate with.
What could be improved: Not necessarily the negatives, but guests should be aware there are a few flights of stairs to the flat in the building as well as a very narrow and sleep staircase to upstairs in the flat, so large suitcases would be hard to manage. A partially-used small travel size bottle of shampoo should be replaced with a full size one – this is the only complaint we had if I have to find one.
