Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about CityHeart Constellation? The name makes it sound like some chain hotel trying too hard, but honestly, this place has way more character than I expected. It’s tucked away on Rue des Combattants Africains – which sounds intimidating but is actually this quiet residential street that most tourists never stumble across. The parking situation alone sold me (and trust me, if you’ve ever tried to park in Strasbourg’s city center, you’ll understand why that’s huge).

The building itself has this understated elegance that feels very Strasbourg – not the half-timbered postcard stuff you see in Petite France, but more like what locals actually live in. Clean lines, decent-sized windows, and thankfully no tourist-trap kitsch. Inside, they’ve gone for this modern constellation theme that could’ve been cheesy but actually works pretty well. The lobby has these subtle star-pattern details in the flooring that I didn’t even notice until my second day. My room was on the third floor, and I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but everything felt thoughtful. Good lighting for actually reading, a desk that’s not just decorative, and – this is weirdly specific but important – curtains that actually block light if you need to sleep in.

What really impressed me was how they handle the practical stuff that other hotels mess up. Check-in was smooth, the staff speaks decent English (though my rusty French got better by day three), and the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building. The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re staying somewhere real rather than in tourist central. You’re about a fifteen-minute walk to the cathedral, but you’re also right near where actual Strasbourgeois grab their morning coffee. There’s this little boulangerie two blocks down that does incredible pain au chocolat – way better than anything you’ll find near the main squares. The tram stops pretty close by too, so getting around is easy enough. I stayed there in late September, and the neighborhood was bustling but not overwhelming. You get some street noise during the day, but it dies down by evening. The 8.2 rating seems about right – it’s not going to be anyone’s dream destination hotel, but it does what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. For a four-star place in Strasbourg with actual parking, the value is solid.

Reviews

  • Good – Chris from Austria – 15 July 2024 (7/10)

Nice location. 15min. to walk into the city center. The apartment is comfortable for up to 4 persons.

What could be improved: Checkin procedure is difficult. 3 codes needed. But once you manage to get into the apartment, it's great.

  • Great value for money – Ronak from France – 18 June 2024 (9/10)

It’s a great accommodation with all the amenities provided, in a good location very close to the city center. We stayed 5 nights very comfortably.

What could be improved: Nevertheless, the cleaning of the apartment could be made better, stains were visible in multiple spots. That’s the only issue we noticed. Everything else was perfect.

  • The property was spacious, clean, easy to find, accessible to public transport and .near the city center. The amenities – Jennifer from Philippines – 24 December 2024 (10/10)

    Near tram station

    What could be improved: None

  • This would be definitely our first choice next time – Jozef from Slovakia – 16 September 2024 (10/10)

Great terrace. Sitting on this spacious terrace in the summer evening is awesome.
The location is not far from the city center. Either you go on foot for 20 minutes to the very heart of Strasbourg, or you take a tram (its stop is 300 meters away).
The apartment is quite large, clean and well equipped with everything we needed.
The parking garage is under a house on the next street (Rue des Châtaigniers), but can be accessed anytime. In fact using a car in Strasbourg is not a good idea, so the position of the garage makes no problem. When traveling by car, remember having Crit'air sticker in advance.

  • Exceptional – Dude2 from Switzerland – 14 April 2024 (10/10)

The apartment configuration allows 4 people stay without ever impeding each other. The large terrasse is an obvious magnificent addition. The area is quiet (of course you will still hear the noise of cars in a city) and about 15-20 min walking distance from city centre but plenty of places to shop or dive at in between.

We didn't nothing anything "missing" from the equipment but a pair of scissors but globally everything and more is available for cooking.

The private indoor parking space is a great benefit as parking around the area is under heavy demand.

What could be improved: Only minor hiccup with communication which was probably sorted immediately after communicating back. Thanks a lot for your support.

  • Pleasant – Evdokia from Bulgaria – 18 July 2025 (6/10)

20 mins walk to the city center.

What could be improved: Sofa was broken. Ants on the floor in the kitchen. Water mixer in the kitchen was not stable. Elevator was occasionally working.
I was reminded many times about how we have to clean the apartment before check in, wash the dishes, empty the dishwasher, tide up the apartment, throw the trash, that we need to leave exactly at 10 o’clock. We followed all their instructions and on the last day they deactivated the codes 20 min before 10 o’clock, putting me in the very confusing situation while trying to return back the key in the key locker.

  • Okay…ish – Zoltan from Slovakia – 13 September 2024 (5/10)

The location is great, just outside the centre and a few tram lines close by. It's great that there is a private parking spot available nearby. The kitchen is fully equipped and it was very clean.

What could be improved: There is a lot of information/rules you are not told when booking with Booking. For the deposit you have to add your credit card information on a strange looking site. They offer all kinds of payed "extras" – actually almost everything like taking out the trash costs extra. It would be much better if you could check this prior making a reservation. The parking is in a nearby street and not at the property. This information is not available here. They claim that there is 24/7 hotline but they probably only work during workdays, maybe 9-17. To check in you have to go to another strange website which didn't work well for me. I couldn't fill one of the forms needed so they sent me a pdf – no idea how was I supposed to print it… To communicate this took 2 days, but maybe because it was a weekend. The sofa bed is probably unusable. On the last day we didn't have warm water. It would maybe be ok for 1/3 of the price.

  • Nice apartment, but poor communication with an impersonal managing company – Zournatzi from Germany – 24 July 2024 (6/10)

The apartment is quite comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen and very nice terrace. It is close to several tram lines, with groceries and shopping facilities in the vicinity

What could be improved: The communication with the professional host was rather cumbersome. They only communicate in French which is inexplicable, unless they only seek to have French speaking guests. After booking and paying in full, I was requested to pay a damage deposit of 300 euro in order to receive the code to enter the apartment. They keep the deposit for appr. 2 weeks. Also, I was requested to sign into another platform of the host and upload my personal info and identity card. This took more than 30 min, as the platform was not very user-friendly. All in all, a stressful and time-consuming check-in procedure for the guest that a hotel reception desk would have handled in a few minutes. In terms of cleanliness, it was ok as far as the eye could see, but when I dropped something under the bed, it looked like it had never been cleaned there.

  • Very good – Helmut from Germany – 19 July 2025 (8/10)

Gute Lage, Preis Leistung in Ordnung. Schöner Balkon.

What could be improved: Parkplatz schwer zu finden, in der App funktionierte die Wegbeschreibung nicht, erst als wir stundenlang ohne Erfolg telefoniert hatten und dann im Zimmer den QR Code gescannt hatten fanden wir den Parkplatz:-( Das Sofa ist nicht mehr so Toll.

  • excelente localização e, ótimas instalações – Liss from Brazil – 10 January 2025 (9/10)

    Instruções claras, com vídeos explicativos.
