I wasn’t expecting much from CityCosy Strasbourg when I first walked up to 29 Rue des Bouchers – honestly, the name sounds a bit generic and the 7.2 rating had me wondering what I was getting into. But here’s the thing about this little corner of Strasbourg’s old town: sometimes the most unassuming places surprise you. The street itself is this narrow cobblestone affair where you can literally reach out and touch the buildings on both sides, and it’s tucked right in the heart of everything that matters. I mean, you’re maybe two minutes from the cathedral (you’ll hear the bells, which is either charming or annoying depending on how light a sleeper you are), and Place Kléber is right there when you need actual civilization.

The “Art Style” part of the name actually makes sense once you’re inside – they’ve gone for this quirky, almost bohemian vibe that works better than it should in a 3-star place. The rooms are smaller than what Americans are used to, but honestly, that’s just Europe, and they’ve made good use of the space with these interesting art pieces on the walls and furniture that feels more curated than mass-produced. The bathroom in my room was tiny but perfectly functional, and the shower had decent pressure (always a gamble in these old buildings). What I really appreciated was how quiet it got at night – Rue des Bouchers isn’t a main thoroughfare, so you don’t get the constant tram noise that plagues some of the hotels closer to the train station.

Here’s where it gets practical: parking is going to be your biggest headache, just like everywhere else in Strasbourg’s center, but there’s a public garage about five minutes away on foot. The front desk folks actually knew where things were and could give real directions, not just “it’s very close” like some places. Breakfast was… well, it’s continental breakfast, so manage your expectations, but the coffee was decent and they had proper pastries from a local boulangerie. The whole place has this lived-in feeling that I actually prefer to those sterile chain hotels – it feels like staying in someone’s well-designed apartment rather than a corporate box. Is it perfect? No, and that 7.2 rating probably reflects some legitimate complaints about room size or maybe inconsistent service, but for the price point and location, it’s one of those finds that makes you feel a bit smug about your booking skills.
