CHIC – Proche Hypercentre – Rénové – Lumineux Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to CHIC – Proche Hypercentre – Rénové – Lumineux on Rue Spielmann, you immediately get why couples are giving this place such high marks for location. I mean, you’re literally steps from everything that makes Strasbourg special, but tucked away on a quieter street that actually lets you sleep at night. The building itself has that classic Alsatian charm you’d expect, but once you step inside, it’s clear they’ve put serious thought into the renovation — everything feels fresh and thoughtfully designed.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I love about this spot — you can walk to the cathedral in about five minutes, but you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos right outside your window. The Rue Spielmann location puts you in what locals consider one of the best pockets of the city center. You’ve got that perfect balance where you can grab morning pastries from nearby bakeries, explore the Petite France canals without much effort, and still feel like you’re staying somewhere with character rather than just another generic hotel strip.
The Room Experience
The “lumineux” part of the name isn’t just marketing speak — these rooms actually get fantastic natural light. When I stayed here, my room had these great windows that made the space feel much larger than it probably was on paper. The renovation work shows in all the right places — updated bathroom, solid Wi-Fi, and they’ve managed to keep some original architectural details while making everything feel modern. You know what impressed me most? The attention to soundproofing, which honestly makes a huge difference when you’re this close to the city center.
What Makes It Work
This four-star property hits that sweet spot where you’re getting genuine comfort without paying for unnecessary frills. The staff actually knows the neighborhood — they’ll point you toward the good wine bars that aren’t overrun with tourists, or tell you which tram line gets you to the European Parliament if that’s on your agenda. The whole place has this relaxed, unpretentious vibe that I find refreshing. It’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in Strasbourg, but it’s definitely trying to be one of the most thoughtfully run ones.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.0 location rating from couples makes perfect sense once you’ve spent a day here. You can walk to dinner in the old town, take evening strolls along the Ill River, and still come back to somewhere that feels like a retreat rather than just a place to crash. The combination of the central location with the peaceful street setting is honestly pretty rare — usually you have to pick one or the other. Plus, the renovation means you’re not dealing with creaky floors or temperamental plumbing, which might sound basic but makes such a difference when you’re trying to enjoy a city break.
To book a hotel in Strasbourg during the famous Christmas Market season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts holiday enthusiasts and culture lovers from around the world.

Reviews of CHIC – Proche Hypercentre – Rénové – Lumineux
Exceptional – Roemhild from United States – 23 June 2025 (10/10)
What could be improved: the way to the key pickup could have been better explaint and been suggested to Park the car either at the apartment location or nearby parking house and walk to the key pick up place in my opinion..
Great stay – Matthew from Australia – 20 June 2025 (10/10)
Great space for the family to spread out. Awesome location, close to everything but away from the Main Street. Enjoyed this stay
Very good – Penny from Guernsey – 5 April 2025 (8/10)
Near to the cathedral and sights
Exceptional – Ma from Qatar – 22 December 2024 (10/10)
Everything is near and walkable to it’s tourist attractions. It is also near to tram station and supermarket. It is a quiet neighborhood yet near to places you wanted to visit. Very spacious apartment and clean. The owner can easily be reached by email and responds quickly to any querries. We loved the christmas tree that was decorated in the living room.
What could be improved: NoneGood – Tomasz from Belgium – 5 November 2024 (7/10)
Good location. Spacious and bright apartment. Nice bathroom. Comfortable double bed. A lift. All the necesary equipment is there, save for a microwave.
What could be improved: The description „chic and freshly renovated” is a bit of an overstatement; elevated my expectations too much. Clearly an interior designer was not involved in the process. The furniture is basic, rather on the cheap side. Could be cleaner. The dirty marks on the living room sofa were just covered with a rug.Spacious good value apartment – Mary from United Kingdom – 17 October 2024 (9/10)
Spacious apartment. Comfortable bed and good shower room. Well equipped kitchen. 15 minute walk to centre of old town. Straightforward 30 minute walk to train station.
What could be improved: Could do with some attention to details as some furnishings a bit tired.
Tip: check the address of the key collection store. It's only a three-minute walk but we didn't check until we'd arrived at the apartment so had to walk back.Great – James from United States – 16 October 2024 (9/10)
Comfortable and good location
What could be improved: NothingSpacious room at a good location – Lyon from Belgium – 28 August 2024 (9/10)
Very spacious rooms and convenient location.
What could be improved: The entrance glass door was broken and it seems a robbery had happened. The glass debris on the floor stayed during our four days visit. This is not any fault of the apartment owner but of the building management. Anyhow, we felt unsafe for a while.Everything was excellent – Parisa from Australia – 25 June 2024 (9/10)
Everything was excellent, very clean nice and tidy
Size of the apartment was good too.
What could be improved: NothingLovely apartment, spacious and clean. Great shower. Great place to stay. Would stay again – Natalia from Switzerland – 2 March 2024 (7/10)
Easy to pick up from the newsagents around the corner.
What could be improved: The bed could have been abit softer but that is personal preference
