Look, I’ve stayed in my share of Strasbourg apartments, and Chez Schätzele is honestly one of those places that just gets it right. The name literally means “little treasure” in Alsatian dialect, which feels pretty spot-on when you’re walking up to this charming building on Rue Clovis. It’s tucked into this quiet residential street that most tourists never find – you know, the kind where locals are walking their dogs and chatting with neighbors in that lovely mix of French and German you hear throughout the city.

The apartment itself has that authentic Strasbourgeois character without feeling like a museum piece. I mean, you’ve got those beautiful high ceilings and original wooden floors that creak just enough to remind you you’re in a historic building, but everything’s been thoughtfully updated. The kitchen actually works (revolutionary concept, I know), and there’s this cozy living area where you can spread out your maps and plan your next day without feeling cramped. What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night – Rue Clovis isn’t one of those streets where delivery trucks rumble by at 5 AM, which honestly made all the difference for getting decent sleep.

Here’s what I really appreciated: you’re about a fifteen-minute walk to Petite France, but you’re also right near some genuinely local spots that don’t show up in guidebooks. There’s this incredible bakery just around the corner where the pain aux raisins is worth the early morning trek, and you can easily walk to the European Quarter if that’s your thing. The host clearly knows the neighborhood well – they left these handwritten notes about which tram lines to take and where to find parking (spoiler: it’s tricky, but doable if you know the tricks). The whole experience felt less like staying in a rental and more like borrowing a friend’s place, if that makes sense. With a 9.3 rating, I wasn’t surprised it lived up to the hype, but what surprised me was how it managed to feel both polished and genuinely homey at the same time.

  A beautiful apartment in a great house. Quiet area, but not far from the city. A lot of space, owner was really kind to provide a baby bed for us as well even though it was not part of the listing. We will be back!

  Mooie accommodatie. Vriendelijk ontvangst. Mooie tuin om te relaxen. Half uurtje lopen naar centrum het centrum van Straatsburg.

  Sehr nette Vermieter, per Bus/Tram ist man rasch im Zentrum, trotz der guten Anbindung zu ÖV sehr ruhige, schöne und gut ausgestattete Wohnung. Wir werden die Wohnung sicher wieder buchen, wenn wir das nächste Mal in Strassburg sind.

  Acces au tram très facile et nous n'avons eu aucun mal à garer notre voiture devant la maison.
