Hotel Description

Honestly, when I first saw “Chez Sandrine” listed as an apartment rental, I wasn’t sure what to expect – but this place completely surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked on Rue du Faubourg-de-Pierre, which sounds fancy but is actually just this quiet residential street about a 12-minute walk from Strasbourg’s gorgeous cathedral area. You know what I loved right away? The parking situation is actually sorted out for you, which – if you’ve ever tried to navigate Strasbourg’s old town with a rental car – you’ll understand is basically worth its weight in gold.

The apartment itself feels like staying at a stylish friend’s place rather than some sterile hotel room. Sandrine (and yes, there really is a Sandrine) has this knack for elegant touches that don’t feel overdone – think soft linens that actually smell good, art that looks like she picked it herself rather than bought it in bulk, and a kitchen that’s equipped well enough that you could make a proper meal if you wanted to skip the restaurants one night. The whole vibe is sort of Parisian chic meets Alsatian comfort, if that makes sense. I mean, you’re still in France, but there’s something distinctly regional about the warmth of the place. The neighborhood itself is pretty perfect for getting a feel for how locals actually live – there’s a little boulangerie two blocks down where the morning bread smell basically serves as your alarm clock, and you’ll hear church bells from Saint-Pierre-le-Vieux drifting over in the evenings.

What really won me over was how the place strikes this balance between being polished enough to feel special (those 4 stars are well-earned) but relaxed enough that you’re not afraid to put your feet up or leave your coffee cup on the counter. The 8.3 rating makes sense when you experience it – it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but everything just works smoothly. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, the WiFi didn’t cut out every five minutes like some places, and honestly, after walking around Strasbourg’s cobblestone streets all day, coming back to a quiet space where you can hear yourself think feels like such a luxury. If you’re planning to explore beyond the main tourist circuit – maybe hit up some of the local winstubs or wander through the Neustadt district – this gives you a perfect home base that feels authentically Strasbourgeois without being touristy.

Reviews

  • Good location , nice staff – Sankarkumar from Netherlands – 13 July 2025 (8/10)

    Location is great

What could be improved: 4 floors have to climb

  • Superb – Marlen from Germany – 19 May 2025 (9/10)

The apartment was quite spacious and the location was great. Check-in and the communication with the host were quite easy.

What could be improved: The apartment is in the attic and during our stay it got quite hot. As the windows are very small it is hard to cool down the apartment in the night. In the kitchen there were no sharp knifes for pealing or chopping vegetables/fruits.

  • Would definitely recommend as long as you don’t mind some stairs – Lyric from Germany – 23 February 2025 (9/10)

Great location, nice decor, responsive hosts

  • Superb – Veronique from Germany – 12 November 2024 (9/10)

  • A beautifully designed attic apartment in an excellent location – Kaarina from Canada – 19 September 2024 (9/10)

    Very modern, good location

What could be improved: No place to hang clothes,,
We are very tall and the beams are very low we had to be very careful

  • Clean, well located, charming flat. – Svilen from Germany – 27 August 2024 (9/10)

Five minutes walking from city centre, well equipped and clean apartment. That is what we need for a city trip. Excellent value for money.

What could be improved: We hit very hot days and the first nights were hard to sleep even with an open windows. If AC is not an option because of the building, then maybe one-two fans can help. Also be aware there are some stairs you have to climb to the apartment. If you have problem with that you may want to avoid it

  • Superb – Khawla from United Kingdom – 17 June 2024 (9/10)

The location is great, the flat is very clean. And the bonus is the amazing restaurant in the building.

  • Very good – Sagit from Israel – 18 January 2024 (8/10)

The owner is great. Very nice and helpful. The apartment is beautiful and renovated.

What could be improved: The apartment is on the 5th floor. No elevator. Stairs are not comfortable
