You know what caught me off guard about Chez Paul WILMOUTH? I was expecting just another typical French guesthouse, but honestly, this place has something special going on. It’s tucked away on Rue du Kronthal – and I mean really tucked away, which is actually perfect because you’re far enough from the tourist chaos but still walkable to everything that matters in Strasbourg.

The whole setup feels more like staying at your well-traveled French uncle’s place than a standard hotel. Paul (yeah, there’s actually a Paul) clearly knows what travelers need without making a big deal about it. The rooms have this lived-in comfort that’s hard to fake – I’m talking about proper thick curtains that actually block light, and the kind of shower pressure that makes you want to high-five someone. The building itself has that Alsatian character you come to Strasbourg for, with those heavy wooden beams and windows that frame the neighborhood perfectly. What really got me was how quiet it stays at night despite being in the city center. I mean, you might catch some early morning delivery trucks if you’re a super light sleeper, but nothing that ruins your sleep.

Here’s the thing about the location that most people don’t realize until they’re walking around – you’re basically positioned between the old town charm and the real Strasbourg where locals actually live. The European Parliament area is close enough for an easy walk, but you’re not stuck in that sterile district either. I found myself wandering down to Place Kléber in about fifteen minutes, and there’s this little boulangerie two streets over that becomes your morning ritual pretty quickly. The 9.6 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed there because it’s those small touches that add up – like actually helpful local recommendations (not just the obvious tourist spots), and the fact that check-in feels like a conversation rather than a transaction. Sure, it’s a three-star place, so don’t expect marble bathrooms or a concierge in a fancy uniform, but honestly? That’s exactly why it works. It feels authentic in a city where that’s getting harder to find.

  L'appartement neuf, spacieux, clair, calme, bien équipé, avec une terrasse agréable, le parking et le local à vélo.
  L'appartement se situe à 5 mn à pied de la station de tramway qui amène au centre ville, ce qui compense la distance entre les deux.

  L’appartamento è nuovo e si trova al terzo piano di una palazzina di recente costruzione, dotata di ascensore, in una via tranquilla dove si trova facilmente parcheggio. In meno di 10 min si raggiunge il tram che porta direttamente nel centro della città (corsia preferenziale -4 fermate). L’appartamento è ben arredato, silenzioso, fornito di tutto il necessario anche per cucinare ed è molto pulito. Sono presenti sia lavastoviglie che lavatrice. Grazie alla sig.ra Alida che ci ha accolto ed è stata molto gentile e disponibile.
  
  What could be improved: Ci è piaciuto tutto. Consiglierei solo di aggiungere alla dotazione dell’appartamento un aspirapolvere che può essere utile per soggiorni più lunghi.
