Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Chez Lucie? The name makes it sound like some fancy French guesthouse, but it’s actually this wonderfully unpretentious little place that feels more like staying at your most organized friend’s apartment. I mean, it’s technically a 3-star but honestly punches way above its weight – that 9.1 rating isn’t just people being nice.
The location on Boulevard de Nancy is one of those spots that locals probably take for granted but visitors absolutely love. You’re close enough to the historic center that you can walk to Petite France in about fifteen minutes (I timed it), but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos every time you step outside. There’s this great little boulangerie maybe two blocks down that the owner – Lucie, I assume – actually recommended, and she was spot on about their pain au chocolat. The area gets pretty quiet after 9 PM, which was perfect since the windows actually open (crazy concept, right?) and you can sleep with fresh air without street noise keeping you up.
What really sets this place apart is the attention to small stuff that bigger hotels just miss. The coffee machine is one of those proper French ones that actually makes good coffee, not the sad pod situation you usually get. There’s decent Wi-Fi throughout – I worked from the little desk area for a couple mornings without issues. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward too; Lucie met me personally and gave me actual useful tips about parking (there’s street parking that’s free after 7 PM, but she also has a deal with a nearby garage if you need guaranteed spots during the day). The rooms have this cozy, lived-in feel without being cluttered – think clean lines but with actual personality, not that sterile hotel aesthetic that makes you feel like you’re in a medical facility.
I will say the bathrooms are on the smaller side, but they’re well-designed and the water pressure is surprisingly good. The beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with that weird hotel back ache, and there’s actually enough outlets near the bed for all your devices – small thing, but you notice when it’s done right. The whole place has this warm, natural light thing going on that makes you want to hang out rather than just crash and leave. If you’re visiting during summer, there’s a tiny courtyard area that’s perfect for morning coffee, though it can get warm by afternoon.
Honestly, this is the kind of place that makes Strasbourg feel approachable rather than intimidating. It’s not trying to be anything other than a really solid, comfortable base for exploring the city, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need. The price point makes sense too – you’re getting genuine hospitality and local insights without paying for marble lobbies and doormen you don’t actually need.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Strasbourg at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak December season when the city hosts its world-famous Christmas celebrations.

We spent two nights in this lovely and very cute little apartment.
It presents itself as very tidy and clean, with a very good use of space.

Everything very clean and organized.
It is a very well equipped. The host was so nice they put up a christmas tree for us and left a warming gift for us.
It was so easy to access. Their instructions are very detailed. The apartment is away from the crowds, but still close (20min walking with a toddler). They also had a crib for us!
What could be improved: NAVery good – Hilary from New Zealand – 23 June 2025 (8/10)
I was a tourist arriving by train. The apartment is conveniently close to the station. It is an attractive and characterful apartment well appointed including a washing machine. It was a nice space to spend time in. There is a coffee shop with good coffee across the road and a small general shop very close. Slightly further away is a patisserie across from the station. All of these things made it a good apartment to stay in. It is only a short walk to the start of shopping and about 20mins to the cathedral.
What could be improved: The apartment is on a busy road with public transport. The noise can be slightly intrusive.Would definitely recommend staying here! – Martijn from Netherlands – 23 May 2025 (9/10)
Nice place, decorated well, location perfect!
What could be improved: Small points: Only some smell in the bathroom, refrigator made loud noises during the nightClean, cozy, and well-located – Luka_samardzic from Serbia – 16 April 2025 (9/10)
The apartment was exceptionally clean and well-located. It is just a few minutes walk from the main train station, and right next to a tram and bus stop. We've had a very cozy experience thanks to the flat being equipped quite nicely. The aesthetic was also quite pleasing.
What could be improved: It was pretty small, but I'm not saying this as a complaint since we've known from the beginning what we were expecting. For two nights, we've had more than enough space to accomodate the three of us.Superb – Anonymous from Australia – 7 July 2025 (9/10)
Location was excellent – easily walk to petite France , centre and train station .
Funky , bright and cheery decor which was of high standard , freshly painted and very tastefully decorated . Excellent shower , towels and well equipped kitchen facilities .
What could be improved: Only negative … was musty smell from washing machine snd dishes left in dishwasher by previous tenant . Also apt was dusty and nail clippings on carpet but perhaps short interval between rentals for cleaner ?!?Superb – Charlotte from Germany – 1 July 2025 (9/10)
Einrichtung, Design, liebevolle Details, Klimaanlage.
What could be improved: Aus dem Bad etwas strenger Geruch, der leider nicht weg ging.
What could be improved: Mir hat alles gefallen.
