You know what really struck me about Chez Dame Coco? It’s one of those places where someone clearly thought about every single detail – and I mean that in the best way possible. The name’s a bit of a mouthful (honestly, locals just call it “Dame Coco”), but this little gem on Rue du Vieux Chemin is exactly what you’d want if you’re trying to experience Strasbourg without dealing with tourist trap pricing or that sterile hotel chain vibe.

The location is actually pretty clever – you’re tucked away on this quiet residential street that feels authentically Strasbourgeois, but you can easily walk to Grande Île in about fifteen minutes. I appreciated that you don’t get the constant tram noise that some of the more central places deal with, though you’ll still hear the occasional delivery truck in the morning. The building itself is completely renovated (they weren’t kidding about the “entièrement neuf” part), and you can tell they put real money into it. The rooms have this modern comfort thing down without feeling like a sterile Ikea showroom – think clean lines but with actual character. The beds are genuinely comfortable, which… well, you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case even in decent places.

What really won me over was the attention to practical stuff that most hotels just don’t think about. The wifi actually works throughout the building, the shower pressure is excellent (crucial after walking around Strasbourg’s cobblestones all day), and there’s proper soundproofing between rooms. The staff – there’s usually just one or two people running things – actually know the neighborhood and can point you toward that little bakery on Rue de la Krutenau that locals queue up at, or tell you which evening to avoid the tourist crowds around the cathedral. They’re not overly chatty, which I prefer, but they’re genuinely helpful when you need something. I also noticed they keep the common areas spotless without making you feel like you can’t actually use them. That 9.9 rating isn’t just people being generous – this place really does nail the basics while adding those little touches that make you feel like you stumbled onto something special rather than just booked another generic room.

  Wunderschön und intelligent eingerichtet. Trotz des Dachgeschosses dank guter Lüftung nicht zu heiss. Lage günstig. Vermieter antwortet sehr schnell und wir hatten sogar einen Parkplatz direkt vorm Haus.
