Honestly, when I first walked up to this duplex on Rue Gloxin, I wasn’t expecting much – it’s tucked away on this quiet residential street that most tourists never stumble across. But you know what? That’s exactly what makes it brilliant. The whole place feels like you’re staying in someone’s actual home (well, technically you are), and after dealing with cramped hotel rooms all over Europe, having two proper bedrooms and a living space was such a relief.

The air conditioning actually works – I mean, really works – which might not sound like a big deal until you’re dealing with one of those sweltering Strasbourg summers when the city turns into a bit of a furnace. The owner clearly gets that comfort matters, because everything from the beds to the kitchen setup feels thoughtfully chosen rather than just thrown together. What really got me though was the neighborhood itself. You’re maybe a fifteen-minute walk from the cathedral and all that tourist chaos, but Rue Gloxin feels completely removed from it all. I’d wake up to birds instead of tour buses, which was honestly perfect after long days wandering around Petite France and the European Quarter.

Parking was way easier than I expected – there’s street parking that doesn’t require you to decode some impossible French parking app, and the grocery situation is solid too. There’s a little Monoprix about five minutes away where you can grab decent wine and cheese without paying hotel minibar prices. The duplex setup means you’ve got proper space to spread out, and if you’re traveling with friends or family, people aren’t constantly bumping into each other trying to get ready. I spent quite a few evenings just hanging out in the living area with a bottle of local Riesling, planning the next day’s adventures – something you definitely can’t do in your average hotel room. The whole experience felt more like temporarily living in Strasbourg rather than just visiting it, if that makes sense. At this price point and with a 9.7 rating, I can see why it books up quickly – it’s one of those places that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special that the guidebooks haven’t ruined yet.

    We were most warmly welcomed by Sabine and Franck. Clean, cosy, feels like home. Everything that you need is there. Warm interior. The Christmas tree was shining in the guest room. You can see the cathedral from the upper floor. The beds are comfortable and inviting.

    The apartment has all the facilities and amenities you could need.
    The location is perfect for sightseeing in Strasbourg. No extra transport is needed.
    Very good space organization in the apartment.

    What could be improved: A lot of stairs to climb. For us it was not an issue, but should be taken into consideration for others.
    No balcony, only a window with not the perfect view. Again, this was clear from the overview and not a big issue.

    Der Kontakt war von Anfang sehr nett, unsere Fragen wurden beantwortet, wir haben Tipps für die Straßenbahn, Restaurants etc. bekommen. Wir wurden herzlich empfangen mit einer Flasche Wein und sogar mit dem Gepäck in den 4. Stock, war Franck uns behilflich.

    Eigentlich steht alles schon in den vorausgegangenen Bewertungen. Wirklich liebevoll gemacht und super nett. Folgende ergänzende Infos: Zum Bahnhof sind es 15 Min zu Fuß, zum nächsten Parkhaus (Halles P3 Wilson) 8 Min. Solange die Geschäfte nicht offen haben, ist das Parken an der Straße kostenlos. Man findet immer irgendwo was. Man bekommt 2 x Haus- und Wohnungstürschlüssel, die man bei der Abreise einfach auf den Tisch legt. Die Vermieter wohnen auf derselben (4.!) Etage gegenüber und sind sowohl diskret als auch stets ansprechbar. Ein abgeschlossenes Schlafzimmer befindet sich auf der Eingangsetage, zugleich Bad, Küche und Wohnzimmer. Das 2.
    Schlafzimmer ist über eine offene Treppe im Giebel zu erreichen.

    What could be improved: Eigentlich nichts. Es gibt zwar eine Wasch-, aber keine Spülmaschine. Hilfreich ist eine Spülschüssel, da man den Abfluss nicht schließen kann. Es gibt keinen Toaster, wohl aber Nespresso-Maschine mit Kapseln, Filterkaffeemaschine, Wasserkocher und Mikrowelle, natürlich auch Backofen und Herd, dessen Bedienung allerdings herausfordernd ist. Das sind alles keine Nachteile, aber hier passt es am besten hin. Die Unterkunft ist auf jeden Fall eine Top-Empfehlung.

    Los dueños son encantadores. Te reciben con afecto, y te explican sobre la ciudad desde el primer momento.
    Están pendientes de ti durante la estancia. Y, si es posible, mantienen la hora del check out que te convenga.
    Nos recibieron con una botella de vino blanco en el apartamento.
    El apartamento es muy funcional. Con todo lo necesario en baño y cocina. Se está realmente a gusto.
    Ubicación perfecta. Cercano a pie del centro.
    Si quieres, también tienes dónde desayunar cerca.
